Markus spit the blood from his mouth then stood up to look around the room he was locked into. He ran over to the door to open it, but the handle burned his hand when he touched it. He bent forward to look at the door handle but there was nothing odd attached.
"Markus, can you hear me?"
Markus glanced the room when he heard Mitchell's voice. "Mitchell, I'm in here! Can you hear me?"
"Yes, I can hear you but I can't see you."
"I'm trapped in some kind of room. I can't get out."
"Markus, I need you to step back as far as you can."
Markus stepped away from the door further into the room. He stared at the door and frowned.
"Mitchell, wait!" He ran towards the door and grabbed the handle, hissing as the metal burned the middle of his palm but he didn't let go.
"Markus, what's wrong? Are you hurt?"
"It's nothing to worry about right now. Don't touch the door."
Markus bent down and pressed a finger to the thin line that blended perfectly with the door, tracing the nylon with his fingers upwards to the first hinge in the corner.
"There's some kind of line running along the door. It doesn't look like a bomb but I think it will cause harm to you and the others if you try to open the door."
There was a few seconds of silence before he heard Kev's voice.
"Markus, I need you to be very careful. Whatever it is that you plan to do, shield yourself."
Markus took a deep and closed his eyes. Instead of fighting the burn, he let it consume him. As the heat traveled up his arm, he had to bite back a pained groan. Markus opened his eyes, but they were no longer hazel but a blood red color. He looked down at his hands before pressing them against the door. He watched as the door caught fire, melting away.
The flame instead of it being red or orange, it was a blue. He watched as the blue flame devoured the door and walls.
Markus stared at the fire unfazed as it continued to burn. He tilted his head to the side, mesmerized by the color. It no longer burned his hands, rather the blue flame seemed to merge as one with his skin. The walls collapsed in a burning pile of rubble and he stepped through the flames unscathed.
Markus looked back at where the room used to be but instead there was nothing.
"Markus, baby. Can you put the fire out, now?"
Markus brought his head around to look at the others, he glanced down at his hands, watching the fire smolder slowly then it extinguished, his eyes now its normal hazel color.
"How did he....?" Kev asked looking down at Markus's hands then up to his face, completely flabbergasted.
"Your leader has gain a few powers as a hybrid." Raven told them, aiming a Cheshire smile at them.
"We can talk about this later. Let's go before there are any more surprises."
Markus licked his lips as he stared at Mitchell, trying to keep himself from lunging at him. He wanted to bite him so badly.
He followed behind them, lingering so he could control the urge. His steps became lagged, almost like he was benumbed. Markus wiped the sweat from his forehead, mindful that the place they were in was still dangerous.
Markus spotted Dan, Tom with Pamela and the triplets. The triplets shouted in delight when they saw him. He put a finger to his mouth, silencing them. One by one they passed through the ripple. Markus gripped the edge of his shirt, he could feel the heat returning, that incredibly intense feeling of want.
He found himself unable to meet Mitchell's gaze.
"Thanks for your help, guys. Pamela, drive the triplets to my home."
Mitchell held his hand tightly, refusing to let him go. He pulled him towards Kev's vehicle while the others piled into their vehicles.
During the drive to his home, Markus's eyes continual flash between red and hazel formed a headache. He laid back against the seat and closed his eyes, hoping this would end soon.
Markus found himself jerking awake when the vehicle came to a stop.
Everyone exited their vehicles and in silence they walked up to the front door.
"Can you tell us what happened in there?" Tia asked Markus when they were in the living-room sitting down.
"All I remember is waking up in a room, then escaping. That's when I met Mavka. Then Raven transformed into a human. We fought the triplets when they attacked us. But they were being controlled."
"Is that all?"
Markus didn't want to talk anymore.
What else did they wanted to know?
He was starting to get annoyed that they were preventing him from taking Logan upstairs. His whole body was crawling with need.
"He's a Transcendent Nephalem. A pure hybrid with a blood mixture of an Archangel and a Succubus."
Eyes turned in his direction but Markus hardly paid any attention to them.
"What's with the tattoos on his arm?" Tom asked pointing at his arm.
Markus had completely forgotten about the tribal tattoos. He looked down at his arm, eyes following the design to where it disappeared under his shirt sleeve. There were also words in a language that he didn't understand written on his arm.
"It's Vampric language." One of the triplets told them, speaking up for the first time. "I don't know it well but I've seen it a few times."
"What species are you?"
"We're sirens, but we live on land."
"Land sirens?"
"We mostly keep to ourselves but we were lured here by this man claiming he would helps us."
"Help with what?"
"Look for our brother."
Markus beckoned the triplets towards him with an index finger and they quickly complied without a word. "What are your names?" He asked staring at each triplet, giving them his full attention.
"My name is Rayne, these two are my sisters, Calia and Gwyneira."
"I'm Markus..."
"Yes, we know. We heard that man mentioned your name a couple of times."
"Did this man told you what he wanted with Markus?" Mitchell asked, tightly grasping his hand.
He smiled at Mitchell to reassure him that everything was good, but he was still worried. There were still too many people chasing after him.
His parents were returning tomorrow and he still needed an explanation about his lineage. He wanted to know why they kept him in the dark concerning what he was.
