"Hold him down just in case he moves. This is going to hurt." Dean said.
While Markus was being held down, Dean gripped the handle of the dagger and pulled it out of his shoulder.
Luckily Markus made no noise, he didn't even move at all. Dean applied pressure to the wound.
"Let's carry him to the vehicle."
Chris and Tom helped lifted Markus from the ground and carried his body to the vehicle while the others followed behind. Mitchell looked back at the alley and his footsteps halted.
"Your mate is an amazing creature."
Mitchell's hands fisted at those words.
He took a step forward to confront Thomas but the door leading to the club opened and people stumbled out to see what was going on outside.
Distracted for a second, he lost sight of his uncle.
This was not good. Thomas knew about Markus.
"Mitchell, what is it?" Susan asked, as she scanned around the alleyway.
"Nothing."
Susan glanced at his hands. "I don't think it's nothing. Look at your hands."
Mitchell looked down at his hands, turning them over. Blue lights danced at the tip of his fingers.
"This happens when it comes to Markus. What did you see?"
"Thomas was here. He knows about Markus."
Susan scanned behind him. "The cops are on their way. We'll talk at home."
They got into the vehicle and Kev drove away from the club.
Mitchell saw the four other vehicles driving behind them. He kept the cloth pressed hard against the wound like Dean had instructed. But blood still soaked the cloth.
"He's bleeding a lot."
"Check his wound."
Mitchell removed the cloth then unbuttoned his shirt. He pulled the edges apart to have a better view.
He frowned when he saw the wound. "Guys, there's something wrong with his wound."
"What do you mean?"
"This doesn't look normal."
Suddenly Markus began twitching violently, his head moving from side to side. His lips were moving but no words were emerging.
Kev glanced in the rear view mirror as he pressed harder on the gas pedal.
"I think that dagger was coated with some kind of poison."
Mitchell's head jerked up to look at Kev. "What do you mean poison?"
"We'll know for sure when I examine him. His parents are going to go postal when they find out."
Mitchell gazed down at Markus and lightly touched his face. His touch seemed to calm him down for now.
To Mitchell the drive seemed to go on forever that he was getting antsy that they wouldn't make it on time.
A sigh of relief left his mouth when he finally saw The Graves home came into view. The gate swung inward and they drove up the driveway.
The vehicle screeched to a stop and with no time to waste, everyone jumped out.
"It seems Markus was poisoned." Kev inform the others.
Mitchell saw varied expressions crossed their faces. Anger, shock and guilt. He hadn't been able to protect Markus tonight. It was time he talked to Elder Clarence about his powers.
He helped carried Markus from the jeep inside the house and laid him down on the sofa.
It was impossible to keep this from his parents. He felt a strong pulse went through the house, before he heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
Antonio was the first to enter the living-room followed by Melina.
A high pitched scream left her mouth as she hurried across the room to her son.
"What happened? Who did this to my son?"
"Shapeshifters."
"How did shifters know that he would be at the club?" Antonio asked. He glanced around the room, his eyes the color of red and gold.
"I need to check his wound." Susan came into the room carrying a black bag in her hands. "I called my parents." She approached the sofa and knelt down.
"Are they dead?" Melina looked at him with blood red eyes.
"Markus killed them."
"How?"
"He got his full powers."
Susan took the cloth away to have a closer inspection of the wound.
The wound had stopped bleeding but the edges around his skin was black.
She put a hand on his wound then closed her eyes. It was silent for a few minutes then a gasp left her mouth.
"It's not poison but a parasite that was mixed into his bloodstream."
"Is it fatal?"
"No, but it's not a good thing."
"What will it do to him?"
"Markus is a powerful Hybrid, and his blood is very special. Someone found out about his true bloodline."
"How is that possible? We never told anyone." Melina caressed her son's cheek.
Antonio's body shook with unrestrained anger. "What's the use of this parasite?"
"They want to control him." Charlie told them.
Mitchell aimed a suspicious look his way. "How do you know?"
"I know because..."
Whatever he wanted to say was cut short when Markus began twitching violently on the couch.
"What's happening to him?"
"Markus, honey." Melina cupped his face with her hand as she smoothed his hair from his face.
Markus's body jerked from the couch and a pained groan left his mouth.
Mitchell knelt down next to him and gently rubbed his face.
"Markus, baby. Open your eyes."
Antonio spun on his feet and dashed upstairs. Mitchell had no time to think about his reason for leaving the room.
All his attention was on Markus.
"Kev, can't you do something?" Calia asked in a scared voice.
"There's nothing we can do."
Mitchell's stomach twisted with anger. This wasn't how he wanted the night to end. Markus wasn't supposed to get hurt.
"How did this happened?" He asked in a whisper as he gripped Markus's hand with his own.
