Mitchell tried not to wince at the sharp twinge he felt walking down the stairs. Markus had really given good to his request. It was his own damn fault. The ring sent a spark of heat up his arm and his tattoo tingle for a second.
"Did you feel that?"
"Yeah, I did. That's going to happen every time I'm near you."
Mitchell ran a finger over the tattoo and shivered at the tingling sensation it emitted. "I've never felt anything like this before. Do you think...?" He trailed off when he looked back at Markus. Markus was staring at him with a heat-filled gaze, his eyes that golden color. "Is the mark affecting you?"
Markus walked closer to him, took his hand, and carried it to his erection.
"What do you think?"
Mitchell instinctively squeezed the bulge, making him groan. Markus's eyes gleam with vivid intensity and he found himself falling deeper into his gaze.
"Is this turning you on?"
"If we had time, I would show you exactly what is running through my mind right now."
"We can skip the party and go back upstairs."
"I wish we could but my parents are coming right now."
Just as those words left his mouth, the door leading from the outside opened.
"Markus, honey. Why did you disappear from the party. Is everything okay with you?" It was hard not to hear the worry in Melina's voice.
Antonio's gaze shifted between them before he glanced down at Mitchell's hand. His eyes searched his son's face for a minute, before putting a hand on his wife's shoulder.
"He's fine. They're mated."
Melina's eyes widened, then a smile appeared on her face. She went forward and hugged Markus. "I'm happy for you."
"This is really great news but we can't let anyone see the color of your eyes."
Mitchell turned to Markus. "Why does his eyes change color?"
"It's not safe discussing this with so many Supernatural beings around."
"Wait until we're alone."
"Should we announce that both of you are now mated?"
"I don't see any problem with that. I need everyone here to know that Markus belongs to me."
Markus looked at him, his eyes were no longer golden color. But the intensity was still there. "I don't have a problem with telling anyone."
Antonio nodded his head. "When everyone leaves, we need to tell you about your heritage. It's time that we tell you everything."
They were making their way back outside to join the party when Calia ran up to Markus and grabbed his hand.
"Come dance with me."
Markus opened his mouth to decline but Rayne and Gwyneira bombarded him as well.
"We won't take no for an answer."
A wide grin set on Mitchell's face as the three sirens dragged his mate to the dance floor. He remembered when Markus invited him to that party. Markus was no lousy dancer.
They hadn't danced together since that night at the party. The announcement could wait. With that thought in mind, Mitchell decided to join them on the dance floor, wanting to dance with Markus.
"We haven't danced like this since the party."
"I know. Things have been crazy."
"Do you still want to..."
"Markus, how have you been?"
Mitchell's head twisted to look at the person standing behind them. It was the guy who was watching them earlier. He stepped closer to Markus and eyed the guy who's gaze was focused solely on Markus.
"Hank, it was nice of you to come."
"You know I wouldn't have missed it."
"Where is Calvin?" Markus asked.
Who is Calvin?
"He's around, somewhere."
Mitchell tried to keep calm but this guy needed to get the hell away from here. He felt that familiar tingle in his hands but kept them fisted.
"Mitchell, this is Hank."
How was Hank related to Markus?
"Nice to meet you." Not really. He didn't want to be friendly with anyone who has the intention of trying to take Markus away from him.
Hank aimed his gaze at him and a sense of deja vu washed over him.
He couldn't help but think that Hank looked familiar. By then the group had subtly gathered around Markus without drawing any attention.
"I don't want to cause any trouble. I just want to talk to Markus."
"I highly doubt that." Kev said, folding his arms.
"The Graves invited me to the celebration. Why would I cause any trouble on sacred ground."
What did he mean? Sacred ground?
"Guys, it's okay." Markus leaned towards him. "Don't worry. I won't be too far." Markus kissed him on his mouth then took a step back.
Mitchell had to fight with every fiber of his being not to attack Hank and keep Markus from leaving. He watched them walk over to the door before going inside.
"Hank can't do anything to Markus."
"The Graves are powerful and has this place protected." Susan told him.
"Just remain calm. Nothing will happen to him."
Mitchell touched the ring on his finger as he took a deep breath and it immediately centered him.
