"How are you going to take him, when he's surrounded all the time now. Last time you only had to deal with two now there's more."
Hank turned to Calvin. "We have until midnight before he completes the mating process." He turned to look at where Markus was sitting. "His scent is very intoxicating, isn't it? It would be so satisfying tasting his blood."
"Cassie and Lucas have their eyes on him as well. How will you deal with them?"
"It would cause a riff between us if we hurt them. Their families are very powerful. Although not as powerful as the Graves.
"Markus is very powerful. By midnight it will be impossible to get close to him. He's a Transcendent Nephalem."
Hank froze with his drink halfway to his mouth. He turned to stare at his cousin. He hadn't been expecting that bombshell.
"He's a Hybrid? That means one of his parents is a demon."
Hybrids were sought-after Supernatural beings. A hybrid in Pine Crest hasn't been seen one in over a hundreds of years. Hybrids were seen as abnormal and killed off years ago.
That meant Markus had inherited both his parents and grandparents powers. He clenched his fist as he stared across the way at Markus. It all made sense now why Markus was able to escape being detected. His parents were able to keep his true bloodline a secret for so long.
Hank got up from his seat. "It's going to be very interesting to see how much longer his parents can keep the truth from coming out." He picked up his drink and strolled over to meet Cassie and Lucas.
"I'm surprised you decided to show your faces here tonight."
Cassie rolled her eyes at him. "What are you doing here?"
"Markus has gotten more handsome since the last time I saw him. It will be a great delight sinking my teeth into his flesh."
"Don't you dare touch him!" Cassie hissed with venom. Her eyes flashing red.
"Cassie, calm down. We can't make a scene here."
Lucas turned to Hank, his face void of any expression. "The Graves invited us to this celebration so that means we won't fight you. But be warned, stay away from Markus."
"Markus hasn't fully mated. He's fair game until then." Hank lifted his glass in a salute before walking off back to his table.
"You have this way of irritating those around you."
"It's a gift." Hank grinned at him, lifting his drink in a salute.
"Markus has more guardians now than he did before. Do you think Uncle Thomas has his sight on Markus?"
"Uncle Thomas should have remained dead. If he knows about Markus, he's going to try to take him to use his body."
"What do you know think about his mate?"
Hank glanced over at the table to stare at Markus's mate. There was something about him that seemed familiar. "I don't know much about him. But it feels like he's wearing this facade." He's more than meets the eye.
"I think we should be careful around him."
"What makes you say that?" Hank asked.
"I've seen the way he stares at anyone looking too closely at Markus. "I'm giving you a warning, Hank. Take your eyes off Markus. His mate is very dangerous and protective."
"Can you sense his true nature?" It would be a great advantage for Hank to get the competition out of the way.
"I can't. It's like a void. All I can see is darkness."
"What does that mean?"
"It means that you should stay away from Markus." With that Calvin walked away from the table.
