"You're just in time. We're going to watch The Birds." Kev told them.

"Isn't that a Hitchcock classic?"

"Yeah, it is. Mitchell loves watching old movies."

"I do. As long as they have a good storyline."

Mitchell went into the kitchen to get drinks since they already had a bowl of popcorn and snacks. He already knew what they wanted to drink.

"I've never seen this one before. Is it any good?" Susan asked.

"It's one of my favorite along with Psycho." Mitchell told her, placing the drinks on the table.

"I've seen Psycho."

He sat down as the movie began to play. Markus slid closer to him and put his arm around his shoulder.

Halfway through the movie Kev's phone rang out. He excused himself to answer it. Mitchell glanced at Susan, she was frowning in the direction Kev disappeared.

Markus suddenly stiffened at his side when Kev came back inside.

Both of them looked at Markus but didn't say anything.

"What's up guys? Everything okay?"

"Yeah, it's all good." Kev stared at Markus then nodded his head at him.

Mitchell once again had the notion they were talking to each other without their mouths moving.

"Babe, come sit." Susan motioned for Kev, patting the empty space beside her. She rubbed his arm in a soothing gesture.

"Are you sure nothing is wrong?"

"Yeah. Just family stuff."

Mitchell then realized that he has never met their parents. How strange? He wasn't in a hurry to meet them but it never occurred to him until now.

"Okay."

At the end of the movie, Kev stood up with a sigh. "I had a really nice time but we have to leave."

"I guess it's getting late." His mom said getting up.

"Thanks again for the food and the movies Ms. Wilkins."

"No problem."

Markus kissed him on the cheek then stood up. "I'm going to walk them to the vehicle."

"Okay."

Mitchell helped his mom clear the table while she washed the dishes they had used.

"Your friends are nice, a little secretive but nice. It's good Markus has them by his side."

"How do you know they're upright?"

"The same as you. I just know."

"There's a lot about Markus I still don't know and I don't know if I'll like what I find out."

"That's up to you. But don't be quick to judge or push him away."

"Why are you defending him?"

"I'm not defending him. I'm just telling you what I feel."

"He's staying over tonight."

His mom dried her hands before looking at him. He thought she would object but she just smiled. She opened the refrigerator, taking out the bags Markus had brought earlier.

"Remember I'm just down the hall and the walls are thin."

"Oh my God! Mom, we don't plan on doing anything."
