Charlie looked at him, "Mitchell, what's up?"

"I'm good. Yourself?"

Charlie lifted up his basket. "I'm just picking up some things for dinner."

Markus turned to look at Charlie, while leaning on the handle of the cart. "I didn't see you in class this afternoon. Is everything okay?"

"There was a family emergency."

"I hope it wasn't anything too serious."

"Nothing too serious. It got resolved very quickly."

Mitchell went to stand next to Markus, holding his hand. He never thought he would be this possessive over a person but it was getting hard to reign in this feeling.

"Markus we have to go meet the others or they'll send a search party."

"Right. I'll see you tomorrow Charlie."

"See you tomorrow. And thanks for the party invitation."

Mitchell already knew about the invitation so it didn't bother him one bit.

"No thanks needed. We're friends."

"You should stop by the store. I have some new things I think you might like."

"I will. Anyway, it was nice seeing you Charlie."

"You too, Markus."

Mitchell eyes bored into Charlie's retreating back, his hands tightening into fists.

"Any tighter and you'll cut off my circulation." Markus said looking down at his hand.

Mitchell released his hand. "Sorry."

"Mitchell there's no need to apologize. I get that you don't like me being on the receiving end of people's attention. But remember we're mated and no one can separate us."

"No one will separate us because I won't allow it to happen."

"Good, that's all I need to know."

They went to the checkout counter to pay the bill and left the supermarket. After loading the bags into the trunk and the back of the car, Markus sent Kev a message.

"Kev wants us to meet back at my house." Markus told him, backing out the parking lot.

"Let me send my mom a message. She probably thinks I don't live there anymore."

"Talk to her about you spending the rest of week at my house."

"I will."

As usual Mitchell just enjoyed the scenery. There was no need for talking, just the sound of the music playing. The silence gave him time to think.

Markus drove passed the open gate, up the driveway where the two cars parked.

"What took you so long?" Kev asked looking at time on his phone. "It shouldn't have taken so long to get here."

"We ran into Charlie at the supermarket."

"Oh..."Kev gave Mitchell a side glance. "What did he want?"

"Nothing. He was shopping."

Kev looked at Markus whose back was to them. He grabbed a few bags from the trunk before facing Kev and Mitchell.

"I'm going to carry these inside. Why don't you grab the other bags from the backseat." Markus said before turning to walk up the steps to the front door.

Mitchell watched him until he went inside then turned to Kev.

"Charlie has his sights on Markus."

"I know. And it might cause a problem. He doesn't look like the type to give up easily."
