Mitchell watched his mom silently, contemplating whether or not to tell her that he had overheard her conversation. The silence stretched as he stared at her, hoping she would tell him the truth.
She got up with a sigh to stand in front of him then placed her hands on his shoulders.
"There's something that I have to tell you. But I can't tell you until your eighteen birthday."
Mitchell wasn't surprised that she told him. He was surprised at how quickly she told him. His mom always told him that any secret she kept was to protect him until she was sure he could handle it.
"I'll wait because I know it's important to you."
"I sometimes forget you act older than your age." Sarah rest a hand against his cheek with a smile.
"That's life for you. I'll be nineteen in a couple of months."
"Ah....don't remind me. How old is Markus?"
Mitchell didn't want to tell her anything else about Markus without his permission. He didn't know how he would feel about that.
"I'll bring him over to meet you next time."
"He must be really hot."
Mitchell's eyes widened. "Mom! I don't think you saying things like that is appropriate."
"So, he's definitely hot." She said laughing.
"Oh my God! I'm leaving."
Mitchell left the kitchen, her laughter trailing behind him. He shook his head as he went upstairs wondering how to spend the extra hour. Raven was at her usual spot when he entered his room, her yellow eyes blinking at him.
"Why do I have the feeling you can understand everything that's happening?"
He went over to the bed and picked her up, scratching her on the head as she pushed her face against his chin, purring loudly.
"Would you like to meet him?"
Raven purred at him again, then jumped out of his hands. She walked to the bed to resumed taking her nap.
"Sometimes you act more human than a cat." Mitchell said smiling at her. He sat on the edge of his bed and went on his phone to a play a game to help pass the time.
His phone started ringing loudly in the room interrupting his game. He glanced at the screen then frowned.
It was an unknown number.
"Hello."
"He doesn't belong to you. Stay away from him."
"Who the hell is this?"
"I'm not going to warn you again."
Mitchell pulled the phone from his ear, when he heard the dial tone. It was probably someone who wanted to play a trick on him but he wasn't someone who was easily intimidated.
It was too bad he couldn't tell if the voice was a male or female.
His phone rang for the second time again and Mitchell looked at the screen. Markus's name flashed across the screen.
"Hey, Markus."
"What's wrong with you?"
Mitchell was surprised Markus could tell over the phone that something was wrong with him .
"How can you tell something is wrong with me?"
"Your voice. It changes with your emotions."
Mitchell was surprised that Markus could construe that about him in such a short time.
"You're the first person to ever tell me that."
"Did something happened to you?"
"No. Nothing happened. I was just distracted."
There was a pause on the other end of the phone before he spoke again.
"I'm outside."
Mitchell grabbed his phone and keys then went downstairs. His mom was in the living-room watching the television.
She looked at him when he entered the room. "You look very nice."
"Thanks. I'm leaving now."
"Tell Markus I want to meet him soon."
"I will."
"See you later, sweetie."
"Bye mom."
He grabbed his jacket on his way out the door. Markus was leaning against his car, talking on his phone. Markus hang up the phone when he noticed him.
"Kev and Susan are going to meet us."
"Where are we going?" Mitchell asked, leaning up to give him a kiss on his mouth.
"To the bluff to meet some friends."
"Are you sure that it's okay for me to tag along. I mean if you want to..."
Markus silenced him with a kiss until he felt light headed. He gave him one more kiss before he pulled away.
"I invited you because I want to introduce you to my friends. I want them to meet you."
"Should I change my clothes?" He asked looking down at his attire.
"Don't worry about what you're wearing." Markus put his mouth against his ear. "You look good enough to eat."
Mitchell put a hand on his chest to push him away. "Markus, you don't always have to say whatever comes to your mind."
Markus laughed, backing away with his hands in the air.
"It's fun teasing you."
Mitchell opened the passenger side and got into the car. "My mom wants to meet you." Mitchell told him once they were in the vehicle.
Markus glanced at him. "I can't wait to meet her."
"Are you sure I'm not rushing you?"
"Mitchell it's fine. I wouldn't have agreed if I wasn't sure."
Markus took one hand off the steering to rest on his leg. His fingers caressing his skin, giving him tingles in his stomach.
Mitchell looked at him but his focus was on the road. He knew he was doing it unconsciously but Mitchell's body didn't really seem to care. He glanced out the window to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
