Markus exited the bathroom, head down, avoiding his parents worried gazes. It hurt just to walk to his bed.

"Here's your gift."

"Markus, let me see your eyes."

"Mom..." His voice cracked but he didn't turned toward her. The space closed between them but his mom didn't touch him.

"Let me see your eyes."

Markus twisted around, his eyes blinked and opened slowly focusing on her beautiful face. She let out a little gasp and clutched her husband's hand.

"What's really happening to me?"

"You inherited both our powers including those of your grandparents." His dad told him.

"Your dad's parents are both Archangels."

Markus sat down on the bed. "Why haven't I ever met them?" He was curious to know the reason behind their lack of involvement in his life.

"It's a taboo for any angel to mate with my kind."

"I met your mom when we were six years old. As we grew older, our feelings for each other developed deeper but we tried to ignore it because it was forbidden. Then we found out that we were mates. We couldn't let anyone find out the truth, so we decided to run away."

"We came here to Pine Crest and for a while we could breathe freely. But we were followed. We escaped to Los Angeles."

"How did Sarah became your guardian?"

"I met Sarah when she was hiking in the woods years ago. She didn't know what I was until I showed her my true form."

"So, you already knew that Mitchell was my mate."

"Yes, but we couldn't stay there any longer."

"What about your parents mom?"

"My family is screwed up. My grandmother got seduced by an incubus then she got pregnant with my mom. My mom being a mixed blood. Half Estrie and a Succubus."

"Did you change your names?" At his question, their expressions went tensed.

"How did you know that our names were changed?" His dad asked in surprise.

"I was kidnapped a few days ago."

"What?"

His dad's eyes flashed dangerously for a second, but it was the venomous expression on his mom's face that shocked him. Her whole demeanor had completely changed.

"Did you get hurt?"

"No, I wasn't hurt."

"Is there anything you're not telling us?" Melina asked, her face back to its natural calmness.

"That's how I met Mavka and the triplets. I don't know where I was taken, but I was shown memories of you. Why did you change your names?"

Antonio sighed, "We did it to protect you. If they found out that we had a child, they would try to take you away."

"Why? There's nothing special about me."

"Markus, you're more than special."

"You inherited my grandfather's lineage. The heat and your scent, you inherited from me. The ability to heal yourself and others, you got that from your father's side."

"What other ability did I inherit from you mom?"

The guilty expression on his mom's face would have been comical if the situation wasn't serious. She gave his dad a glance before looking at him.

"The ability to seduce men through sexual activities. Luckily, I didn't have to use that on your father. Only when the heat hits me did I seduced him."

"All these you inherited from us."

"So, I'm half demon, half angel. A hybrid. Has there ever been another hybrid like me?"

"No. You're the first and more powerful than any of us."

"Our parents would make you choose a side."

"Choose a side?"

"A hybrid would mean victory against the opposite sides. The side you help would win."

"What is Pine Crest?"

"Pine Crest is a place that Supernatural beings like us come to live. We would have one or two evil beings slip through the cracks but they are quickly killed. A few humans know about us but they took an oath to keep our secret."

Markus stared down at his hands, linking them together. "I can use my hands to melt things."

"We don't know how you got that ability."

"Mitchell is my other half. He's a Caster."

"We know."

"Will that cause a problem? With me being a hybrid and Mitchell is a Caster. Will my grandparents try to separate us ?"

"We won't let any harm come to you and your mate." His dad stated vehemently.

"Mitchell hasn't gotten his powers as yet."

"Mom, he's starting to get his powers."

Both their heads twisted to look at him. With their expressions he guessed they weren't expecting that revelation. They exchanged uncertain looks with each other, making him sense more secrets in his parents. He still had questions regarding his eyes and the pain he keeps experiencing.

"How are my eyes now?"

"Your eyes are good."

The pain had also subsided making it easier for him to breathe. He grabbed the gifts and handed them to his parents. "From both of us."

"Why don't we open our gifts with the others?" Melina suggested.

Markus felt a sense of relief as he walked behind his parents down the stairs to the outdoor dining room. He stepped outside and Mitchell eyed his features carefully. The smile faded from his face and his expression became ardent.

Markus sat down and grabbed Mitchell's hand. "I'm sorry for taking so long."

A slow smile worked its way across his face and into his eyes. "I was getting worried about you."

"I was having a talk with my parents."

Both their gazes turned to the two figures talking to Susan's parents.

"Okay, it's time to open the gifts." His mom clapped her hands with elation.
