Mitchell stood in front of the mirror, looking at his reflection. He wore a white and blue patterned shirt over a white t-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers.
"How do I look? Do you think he'll find me attractive?"
Raven stared at him, then jumped from the bed to the floor. She rubbed her head against his jeans clad legs, purring gently.
"I'll take that as a yes." He picked her up and kissed her on the head, chuckling when she closed her eyes with a meow. He put her down when his mom knocked his door.
"Mitchell, are you ready sweetie?"
"I'll be out in a sec."
He had told his mom about the party earlier. She was so ecstatic that he had finally started to socialize. He hadn't told her about Markus yet.
She was in the kitchen, stirring a pot on the stove. She turned to him with a wide beaming smile. "So, your first party. How does it feel?"
"You're making it seem like I'm antisocial." Mitchell rolled his eyes at her.
"A little bit." Sarah folded her arms across her chest. "Anyone piqued your interest?"
He glanced down at his phone when it started ringing. "It's too early to say. But I promise, I'll let you know."
"No rush. Whenever you're ready. I'll be here."
"I'm heading out now."
"Have fun at the party. Be safe."
"I will."
He answered the phone while walking toward the front door. "I'm just on my way out."
Markus was leaning against his car, dressed in a black mesh shirt, black jeans with a leather jacket. He had pulled his hair into a bun. Mitchell felt saliva pooled into his mouth as he stared at him.
Markus smirked at him. "Do you need a napkin to wipe your mouth?"
"It's your fault. You're too damn sexy." Mitchell's eyes widened when he realized he had spoken his thoughts out loud. Mitchell averted his eyes from his, and hastily got into the car, keeping his gaze forward. When Markus closed the driver's door, he expected Markus to start the engine but there was only silence.
He sensed movement from the driver's side then he felt Markus's hand touch his in a soft caress.
"There's no need to be embarrassed."
Mitchell refused to look at him. He wasn't someone who gets embarrassed easily but ever since he met Markus, it seems to happen a lot.
"I'm glad that you find me attractive." Markus said, making Mitchell turn to look at him.
Markus removed his hand and started the vehicle. For half an hour, they rode in silence until the vehicle pulled to a stop in front of a tall gate.
Mitchell got out of the vehicle and looked around. Loud music blared from the inside of the house.
"Is it okay for all these vehicles to be here?"
"The owners of this house already gave permission. And since they live far from town, we won't be disturbing anyone."
Mitchell watched as he walked to the gate and punched in a couple of numbers. There was a clicking sound then the gate swung open.
They both walked passed the gate, up the pathway and through the open door.
"Let's get something to drink."
Markus grabbed his hand, navigated the crowded room and pushed their way through to the kitchen, which was filled with people drinking and eating around the modern kitchen island.
There was also a raised bar, and a upright beverage cooler full with beers, sodas and other assorted drinks.
"Do you want a beer or a soft drink?" Markus smiled at him.
"I'll pass on the beer. I'm not really a beer person."
"Would you like me to make you my special drink?" Markus asked, walking towards the counter.
Mitchell followed him to lean against the counter top. He watched him get the ingredients and began mixing their drinks.
"Try this." Markus handed him a glass filled with pinkish liquid.
"It's good." Mitchell told him, marveling at the sweet tangy taste, and he could barely taste the alcohol.
"I'm glad you like it."
"Markus, you made it."
Mitchell turned to find Kev with a grin on his face, two beers in his hands.
"Of course. Where's Susan?"
"She's out in the backyard."
"Cool. We'll be joining you guys."
Mitchell waited for Kev to notice that he was standing there.
"Did you invite someone else?" Kev asked with a frown.
Markus rolled his head in exasperation at him. "Are you drunk already?"
Mitchell stepped closer to Markus, taking a hold of his hand. "Kev, I find it very insulting that you didn't see me standing here."
"Oh," He said with a sheepish expression. "Sorry, Mitchell."
"Don't sweat it."
Kev put a hand behind his head, looking from Markus then to Mitchell before holding up two cans of beer.
"I think I might be drunk." He smiled sheepishly at them.
