Mitchell woke up to the sound of a loud crash outside the bedroom door before it was flung open and Markus walked in, a cloth wrapped his hand.
He scrambled out of bed and ran over to grab his hand.
"What happened to your hand?"
"Mitchell, I'm sorry about the noise."
Mitchell looked down at the blood stained cloth with a frown. "Did someone do this to you?"
"It was an accident. I wasn't paying attention."
Knowing that Markus could heal on his own did nothing to calm Mitchell's temper. The more he thought about him getting hurt caused an unease in his stomach.
The room started shaking as he watched Markus's blood on the cloth. It was faint at first but the shaking increased.
Mitchell's fingers twitched uncontrollably causing the furniture in the room to rattle. "I don't like you getting hurt, Markus. It pains me seeing you hurt."
Markus grasped his hands, trying to calm him down. He pulled him into his arms, rubbing his shoulders soothing. "Mitchell, baby. I'm fine. I cut myself by accident."
Footsteps pounded on the stairs but neither looked at the opened door.
"Markus, what's going on?"
Mitchell still in Markus's arms turned to the door. "Did one of you hurt him?"
"Guys, wait...stay there." Markus held out his hand to stop them from entering his room.
"Oh my God. Look at his eyes." Melina gasped. "And his powers hasn't even fully developed."
"Dad, listen to me. Take everyone away from here. He thinks one of you tried to hurt me."
"Is that why he's like this?"
"Markus, you need to calm him before he brings down the whole place."
Mitchell was trying to control his temper but they had try to hurt Markus.
"Mitchell, look at my hand." He removed the cloth and held up his now healed hand. "See, there's nothing there."
Mitchell took three deep breaths then looked down at his hand. He grabbed a hold of his hand, to check his palm. The flesh was intact, no wound. He pulled on Markus's shirt and kissed him hard on his mouth, not giving a damn that they weren't alone.
"I think we should leave them alone."
He could hear their laughter, but the sound suddenly faded along with the footsteps. For a moment they clung to each other, their kiss evolving from tender to eager. All it took was a kiss from Markus and he could feel his emotions settling.
He glanced at the door, then at Markus. "I didn't mean it...your parents..."
"I think my mom was more in awe than panicked." Markus smiled at him and kissed him on the temple.
He slipped his arms around Markus's neck. "Happy Birthday, Markus."
Markus squeezed his arm and leaned forward to kiss him once more. "I think we should go down for breakfast."
"I'm going to take a shower."
"Take your time."
Mitchell kissed him again before heading to the bathroom. He took a quick shower, got dressed then went downstairs.
"The caterers will be here in the afternoon. The decorations are being set up. I want everyone to do their part. No slacking."
"She's like bridezilla." Chris groaned, making everyone laugh.
Susan ignored him. "I'm going to check on the food and cake." She picked up some papers and handed them out.
Mitchell looked down at his paper with a raised eyebrow. "What is this?"
"Last minute checks. Make sure everything is in order."
Mitchell shook his head and rolled his eyes. You'd think the party was for the president instead of a nineteen year old. He walked over to Markus.
"All this is just for your birthday?"
"Yeah. That's why I didn't want to have one in the first place."
"Next year, we'll go on a trip instead of having a party."
"That's a great idea." Markus folded the paper and stuck it in his pocket.
"Where would you like to go?"
"South Korea."
"I've never been to South Korea."
"Then we should definitely visit there." Markus held his hand as they headed to the eat-in kitchen.
Breakfast was already on the table when he entered the room.
"Have you eaten?" Mitchell asked taking a seat.
Markus grabbed the pitcher of orange juice from the refrigerator then took a seat next to him. "I was waiting for you."
"Oh, I forgot to ask. How did it go at my mom's workplace?"
"It was good. Sarah is totally cool."
"Did anyone hit on you?" Mitchell asked, staring at him. He had only visited there once but he remembered that he had seen a few young people there.
"No one tried to hit on me. I think your mom talked to them before I stepped into building."
Thank you mom for looking out.
"How did they act towards you?"
"They were very friendly."
They continued eating while talking about the party. After breakfast, they went their separate ways to do last minute checks. Half an hour later, Mitchell dropped down the couch with a tired groan.
"I'm done. No more."
He looked up as Chris, Tom and Dan walked into the room. Chris flopped down next to him. "My legs feel like they're falling off."
"I didn't think you'd hit him that hard."
Mitchell turned his head when he heard Raven's voice. She entered the room with Mavka right behind her.
"It's not like I broke his nose." Mavka smiled at him. "Mitchell, have you finished everything on your paper?"
"What are you guys arguing about?"
"We had a bit of a problem but Mavka solved it."
"Who did she hit?"
"Some guy that tried to hit on me."
Heads turned to stare at Mavka.
"What? I just gave him a little warning." She said shrugging her shoulders
"Yeah, I bet." He glanced around looking for Markus. "Where's Markus?"
"He's outside in the yard." Susan said entering the room.
Kev walked in a few minutes later with the triplets. "I guess everyone has done their work?" He pulled Susan to sit on his lap. Calia got up and headed to the door leading outside.
"Calia, where you going?" Rayne asked her sister.
"I'll stay with Markus." She opened the door and stepped out, closing it behind her.
Mitchell stared at the door but he had no intention of getting up. He had no problem with the triplets being alone with Markus. They were just as protective as he was.
