Taylor's flu

Taylor had been hit with the flu. She wasn't surprised – her body was exhausted from trying to juggle everything and she hadn't been taking care of herself properly – hadn't been taking the multivitamins she knew kept her immune system afloat, hadn't been sleeping much. She had known it was just a matter of time before she crashed and burned but she hadn't expected to feel SO awful.

Every time she was sick – she forgot how rubbish it felt to be sick. She was used to her body being tired and achy – after long concerts she always had to rest for a day in bed but this fatigue? This was next level – she couldn't remember ever feeling THIS unwell. She couldn't even lift up her head without a spell of dizziness and pain. She had all the classic symptoms – high temperature, aching body, exhaustion, a cough, headache and nausea. There was not a part of her that didn't hurt.

She had arranged for Jessica to be dropped off and collected from school for the next few days – knowing there was no way that she could drive the teen. When Jessica finally got home that afternoon she crept into Taylor's bedroom "Hey Tay – how are you doing?"

Taylor pouted "not good, I think this might actually be the end of me. Say your goodbyes!"

Jessica giggled "Not dramatic AT ALL. Do you need anything? Medicine? A drink?"

Taylor shook her head "maybe just a cuddle?!"

Jessica rolled her eyes, climbing under the covers and snuggling in close "God Tay you are BURNING up – maybe we should take the covers off you?"

As the teen tried to move them, shivers took over Taylor's body – her teeth chattering "NO – too cold"

Jessica sighed "when did you last take medicine?"

The blonde shrugged "lunchtime ish –"

Jessica glared "TAY! That was hours ago – let me run and grab you some."

The teen headed downstairs, grabbing some orange juice, cold water and some medicine. She brought it back to the blonde "sit up Tay..."

The blonde groaned, throwing the covers over her head "ergh I feel sick"

Jessica rolled her eyes "don't be a baby! Sit up and take your medicine..."

Taylor threw the cover off, groaning in pain as she pushed herself up slightly. Her hands were shaking as she lifted the glass and Jessica handed her the tablets quickly. The blonde grimaced as she swallowed. She handed the water back to the teen but Jessica shook her head "No come on, you need to drink a bit more than that."
Taylor took another small sip "sorry MUM." Jessica giggled "well you're not very good at taking care of yourself"

Taylor shrugged slightly "it's just the flu – nothing TO do, it'll go away on it's own..."

Jessica frowned "erm no – it'll go away with rest, keeping warm, drinking plenty of fluids and taking medicine to keep your temperature down. You can't just ignore it and hope it'll pass by not doing anything or you could feel worse and end up in hospital"
Taylor looked at the teen "when did you get so grown up? So what's the prognosis then my little doctor? How long until I'm better?"

Jessica thought about it for a few seconds "5 days I think. Back to normal by next week..."

Taylor groaned dramatically, flopping back down into the bed "5 days of being stuck up here? This sucks!"

Jessica shook her head "No – you can watch as much TV as you like, you can eat ice cream to help your throat...sleep whenever you want. You don't have to move for ANYTHING. That's a pretty sweet deal"

Taylor playfully glared "you trying to butter me up?"

Jessica shrugged "is it working?"

Taylor shook her head "No – anyway do you have homework?"
