A couple of weeks later, Travis was having dinner at the house again. He looked over at the teen "so you still want to come to the game Sunday?"
Jessica looked up at him, smiling "yeah, that will be good"
Taylor hesitated "you know, you don't have to..."
Jessica smiled I her "I know – but I want to. If I hate it, then I don't have to go again"
Travis nodded "exactly – but even if you don't really like football, the atmosphere is just electric"
Jessica nodded "yeah, Tay has always enjoyed them"
Travis smiled at Taylor before looking back at Jessica "I can get you a chiefs shirt if you want?"
Jessica faltered, not wanting to offend him before Taylor stepped in "I think we should just see if she likes it first"
Travis nodded, unbothered but Jessica spoke up "I will wear red and white though..."
Travis smirked "good enough for me!"
On Sunday morning, Travis messaged Taylor asking if Jessica was excited to be there for the game. Taylor read the message out loud to Jessica before laughing lightly "I think he is more excited to have you there than he was me that first game!"
Jessica scoffed playfully "only because he wants to impress you...he was probably scared of dropping the ball when you were there"
Taylor grinned "well, he cant wait to see you later"
Jessica smiled "I am looking forward to seeing him too"
As they pulled up to the stadium, Taylor checked in with Jessica one last time "and you're sure you want to do this?"
Jessica nodded "I'm sure"
Taylor nodded "ok well, stay really close to me – there are so many people trying to get photos out there"
A few seconds later they stepped out and Jessica realised Taylor was not exaggerating – so many people were trying to grab a glimpse of Taylor. The pair of them made their way through – Taylor holding onto Jessica's hand tightly the entire time. She kept looking over, making sure the teen was doing ok. Taylor was pleasantly surprised how calm Jessica actually was.
Eventually, they made it upstairs to the suite. Jessica was scrolling on her phone "god, the photos are online already!"
Taylor smirked but then her face fell "why are you even looking?"
Jessica rolled her eyes "I'm not body checking in them, I didn't even look for them – they just appeared in my feed..."
Taylor narrowed her eyes "ok well, ignore them – nothing they say matters"
Jessica nodded but then smirked "they LOVE your outfit"
Taylor posed playfully "well, that matters of course"
In the suite, people kept coming over to talk to Taylor – Jessica was used to it by now so she scrolled on her phone, zoning out slightly. A lot of the other players families began to speak to her – trying to get her involved. Jessica smiled slightly as she remembered Travis saying they were like one big family. She chatted away the best she could, answering questions and being polite. One of the girlfriends turned to Jessica "so, do you like football?"
Jessica shrugged "It's very new to me...I don't really get it. But I like Travis so..."
She smiled widely "so here you are! Pretty sure that's how most of us started. It's good to have you here"
Taylor turned to Jessica "do you want anything to eat or drink yet baby?"
Jessica got a diet coke while Taylor had a drink.
Soon enough the game started, Jessica couldn't really follow the rules but she picked up on the energy of the crowd – sensing something was happening when they all began to cheer or shout louder.
Taylor was also jumping and cheering throughout – she hugged the people around them whenever they scored. Jessica smiled widely at her – loving seeing this carefree, happy side to her.
Taylor looked at her "are you having fun baby?"
Jessica nodded "I have ABSOLUTELY no idea what is going on, but it's exiting!"
Taylor laughed loudly "you pick it up quickly, I didn't either. As long as you're enjoying yourself, that's the main thing..."
Taylor reached into her bag, pulling out a granola bar. Jessica's eyes widened and she looked around to see who else had noticed but nobody was paying them any attention.
As Taylor turned to her, the teen looked at her, silently pleading to be let off but Taylor leaned in, whispering gently "you need to have this baby – nobody is going to notice or care, I promise. We will have dinner later, ok?"
Jessica sighed but nodded, taking the bar and unwrapping it slowly. She ate the bar robotically, forcing it down. Taylor noticed she had finished and took the wrapper, silently checking it had all gone. She smiled at the teen "ok?"
Jessica nodded "yep!"
The teen sat there, feeling slightly uncomfortable but she also knew it was another step towards normal life. Although she couldn't wait until she didn't have to eat at set times, she was also proud of how easy that had actually been – a few months before the thought of eating anything in a room full of people would have sent her into a total meltdown.
Just as Taylor was about to speak, Jessica pointed "TAY, LOOK! Travis is about to score a touchdown!"
Taylor turned her attention back to the field and they cheered loudly, jumping up and down as Travis scored. Taylor turned back to her, a playful grin on her face "look at you – knowing about football"
Jessica laughed loudly "clearly a natural!"
The chiefs won the game and just like Travis had said, the energy was electric. Jessica looked at Taylor "Travis is going to be so happy!"
Taylor nodded, smiling widely "I think he's going to be even happier that you're here to see it!"
Jessica grinned "now, I am not saying EVERY time – but I wouldn't mind doing this again"
Taylor smiled hugging her tightly "YESSSSS, My own game companion!"
Travis had to complete his post game rituals but soon enough they were heading to meet him so they could get ready to leave.
Just before they walked out, Travis turned to Jessica "there are loads of cameras out there – is that ok? We can probably find a different way..."
Jessica shook her head "Travis I will be fine"
Taylor gripped onto her hand tightly as Travis led them through the chaos. All the people were shouting – trying to get his and Taylor's attention. So many of them made comments asking Travis about his 'new family'
Luckily they made it through quickly and were sat in the car soon.
Travis turned to look at the teen "so, how was it?!"
Jessica smiled "it was fun! I'd love to come again"
Travis smiled wide "definitely getting you a kelce shirt!"
Jessica smirked "well, we are your 'new family' apparently!"
Travis laughed loudly, kissing Taylor gently "and I couldn't be happier about that!"
