Chapter 65: A Not So Peaceful Peace Conference

Imperial Palace, party hall.

The emperor stood nervously in front of the earthlings: they defeated both the solat alliance and the demon lord's army in few months with only a fraction of their military power.

"It's true that they used the so called "atomic bomb" but they only did so to quickly defeat the enemy before he could do too much damage." He thought.

These otherworders also told him about the wonders of the ancient civilization and the true history of their world (of course not mentioning some classified informations like the position of the undergound faicilities).

*Some days before, Earth FOB meeting room*

"So, Limir doesn't exist and magic isn't really "magic"? The church will accuse you of eresy and that statement would cause a revolt in both continents." The emperor stated.

"Maybe this Limir doesn't exist in the sense that you intend (the god that brought magic to the world) but who knows... Even though we are so advanced we didn't prove the existence of a god (or multiple ones) but neither we have proven that "something" doesn't exist." General Coppelli said.

"You are free to believe in anything you want and even though the majority of my country is catholic we let people believe in anything they want. However, it's better if what we said here doesn't spread around your empire or in the other countries..." He finished.

"Understood, thank you general."

"You're welcome, your majesty."

*Back to the peace conference*

"I can't stand here kneeling in front of those barbarians! My dwarf kingom was supposed to be the most advanced one! Our blacksmiths did everything they could to build advanced machine guns and those breach loaded rifles but it was nothing in front of the technology of the earthlings! They don't even have magic, how could they?" He thought while heading towards the table.

"I can't believe that idiot allied with the demon lord! I should have executed him when I had the chance! Yord, you stupid cousin! You tried to stage a coup and to claim a throne that you were sure belonged to you but the gods punished your actions in the end. Now my kingdom has to kneel in front of those invaders and this is also caused by your idiocy!" Raclea thought (some CIA agents explained her what happened before the start of the meeting. At first she didn't believe in anything but when she heard Yord's name she changed idea: she knew he could do something so reckless like an alliance with the demon lord).

"Every defeat is an opportunity to trade. This is what my father told me when I was a child. I heard that those otherworders are skilled traders and I'm sure that even though I will have to concede some gains the republic will gain something with the trade as it has always done." Emiro, the doge of the Carsor Republic thought.

"I suffered many defeats when I was in the army and thanks to that I was able to grow stronger. Those otherworders don't scare me and I will face them head on!" Edgard II, the king of Restal, said to his chamberlain.

"Sir, do you remember that the creature you liberated caused a lot of damage to Earth's forces? I'm sure they won't be so pleased seeing your face with all the respect, sir." He replied.

Then the king's expression changed from an hopeful one to a desperate one...

"Those otherworders are nothing but cowards! With those machines that fly higher and faster than any dragons or vywern! They have no honor but for the sake of my people I will have to accept their peace terms." Vasil, the "viking king" of Norsor thought.

Then everyone entered the room and after some "greetings" the peace talk started...

There was a lot of anger and someone even dared to shout during the meeting still not believing in the defeat of his/her powerful kingdom but after seeing the power of Earth and fearing "the consequences" everyone agreed to the peace terms imposed by the UN:

LOMOR EMPIRE

Being a victim because of the Demon Lord's brainwashing and coup d'état it only had to pay war reparations because the UN considered the Lomor Empire responsible for not having found the traitors that were hidden inside its ranks and that casued that mess during the embassy meeting.

The Empire also had to concede special trade/mining rights to the coalition (in places where they found precious oil the minerals but the earthlings didn't specify that) and rights for the study of magic (the emperor looked the diplomatic coalition's president in the eyes for a little while while he was saying that hawing known the truth) and for future tourism.

In the end, the Earth also decided to sign a defensive military alliance with the Empire and the building of new bases along the border with the Solat Alliance (the base near the portal could remain to Earth). The UN also agreed to repair the damage in both Castir and Rocam.

SOLAT ALLIANCE

Being an active attacker the alliance had also to concede special trade/mining rights to Earth and for the study of magic but other than paying the war reparations the coalition also had to pay a gigantic sum of money as a fine for the unprovoked attack. That sum made every monarch of the alliance sick!

"Don't worry, I'm sure that many of your nobles' proprieties and jewels will do the job." One of Earth's diplomats said with a sadistic tone.

"We'll make sure that your nobles will pay and not the common man. We'll not make another Weimar Republic." 

"We will watch you 24/7 with our planes and if we will find out that you are planning something we won't be so kind!"

The agreement also stated that a little bit of the money were to be given to the Lomor Empire (because of the losses in the war) and Rotar was relived because with that he could pay almost the entire war reparation thing with thag.

As for the demon lord's army, every memember and remaining armed group was soon found and captured/killed  and a big trial was held:

"CRIMES AGANIST HUMANITY, TORTURE, ETC." 

The crime list was very long and a lifelong imprisonement/ forced labour would await the surviving members of the former demon lord's army.

But what about Earth?

After a forced alliance the great powers tried to cooperate (at least on the surface) and to bring their discoveries to every country of the planet (the historians and the archeologists were flabbergasted about the idea of a long lost advanced civilization) but in the shadow NATO, russian, chinese, indian, iranian, ... spies were busy sabotaging each other with their intelligence networks in order to slow down each country's individual research about the ancient civilization.

A new cold war was there: in the first one there was the space race between the USSR and the USA and now there was a "magic" race.

In fact, every country pretended to share every discovery with the world but the "cool stuff" was secretely not shared and studied in secret.

One thing is sure, the world would not have been the same.
