IT HAD BEEN A FEW DAYS SINCE VALENTINE'S DAY'S CHOAS, and somehow things have gotten better. dan had begged cassie to forgive him. but eventually they worked things out.
it was now eric vanderwoodsen's 18th birthday party so cassie, aubrey, ryan and asher were all heading to the vanderwoodsen home.
"hes really starting to look like you c" aubrey took a closer look at her baby, and so did ryan. "hey! don't call our son ugly. my little man doesn't need to hear this negative talk" he joked as he covered his baby's ears.
"screw you" cassie pushed her twin over.
"hey, sorry i'm late" dan slipped into the elevator last second and kissed his girlfriend's head. "hi, where were you?" cassie smiled.
"blair needed me to run some errands for her" he said.
"oh, i want one of these" she awed at her nephew and dan's eyes widened, "not right now though" she laughed at the humphrey's face.
cassie, dan and serena stood at the party waiting for blair, although cassie could not understand what was going on since no one would tell her.
"blair what were you thinking?" serena charged at blair with dan and cassie following. "that i would arrive at this party and be greeted, appropriately" she told the three.
"i know you only said you needed me so i could be your drug mule" dan said and cassie's eyes widened, "excuse me? drug mule?" cassie gasped.
"damien had some coke tulips and blair sent dan to pick them up" serena whispered quickly trying to get the girl up to speed. "what?! blair!"
"that was for penelope. with her attitude, she could use some time behind bars" blair said. "no, sorry i could have gotten you arrested?" dan stated.
"well your here. the party's lovely, everything obviously fine" blair said and serena spoke up. "well you sent dan to get the wrong ones, the tulips with the coke are pink" serena told the waldorf.
"i wrote it down, this ones on you humphrey" blair said. "you wrote purple, you really need some sleep blair" he walked closer to her.
"come on lets take you to the guest room and you can nap there" he grabbed her arm and the two held eye contact.
cassie watched them get so close and it just rubbed her the wrong way. they wouldn't let their eyes off eachother, mainly dan.
dan looked and talked to blair he once did to cassie.
it was all becoming clear to the gilmore girl now.
dan loves blair.
cassie was so zoned out she didn't even notice the group had walked off and serena was trying to talk to her.
"c? cassie?" serena tapped at the girl. "what? yeah?" cassie zoned back in, "are you okay? you look like you've seen a ghost" serena laughed softly. "yeah i'm fine" cassie breathed and serena grabbed her hand. "great! lets go open presents for 100,000 dollars" serena pulled the girl.
"i have 100,000 dollars" cassie muttered as the two walked into the room. "i have 100,000 dollars" cassie said louder, and eric and blair looked at her and so did serena.
"its all in my account, i'm independent with my funds. i can give damien 100,000" cassie said. "i can't ask you to do that cassie" serena said, "but i will"
serena, eric and damien watched as cassie wrote damien a check. "thats damien dalgaard, with two a's" he said, and cassie looked up. "i know how to spell, thanks" she rolled her eyes. "make sure not to leave out any zeros" he smirked as cassie handed him the paper, but to their suprise lily snatched this.
"what is this?!" she yelled.
cassie gave the the vanderwoodsen's some space and decided to head home with dan but she stayed pretty quiet.
"okay, whats wrong? you were so quiet on the way home, and thats not like you" dan said as they entered the humphrey loft. "nothing" cassie muttered.
"cassie, come on" dan walked over to the girl who was struggling to keep it together.
"i saw the way you looked at her today" cassie muttered. "who? blair?" dan paused, "wait you don't think there's something going on between us?"
"i never said there was" she fought back her tears. "the way you talked to her and looked at her, it was the way i looked at nate, the way ryan and aubrey look at eachother, the way your dad looks at lily"
"what are you trying to say?" dan asked and she let out a breath, "do you love her?" cassie asked. "no cassidy" dan said. "i'm not a fool dan, your always with her, and leave me for her in an instant. so don't lie to me" cassie said as small tears fell.
"i might have small feelings for her, but i love you-" he fought but she stopped him. "do not ever say those words to me again!" she yelled.
"you don't mean them, and that okay" cassie said, "wait so your not gonna even fight for our relationship?" dan asked and cassie headed towards the door.
"there isn't anything to fight for dan, and even if there was, its gonna end up as a mistake for the both of us" she sniffled.
"i've been fighting for a long time dan, and i'm tired of fighting" she walked out of the house as she sobbed.
cassie headed back to her penthouse sort of wet from the small drizzling outside and her makeup was runny and her eyes were red from her tears.
she looked over to see james waiting for her at the door. "hey, i just came by to drop off some papers, are you good?" he asked as she breathed heavily. "not really, here i'll let you in" she said, opening the door.
"what happened? if your okay with sharing" he stammered. "my boyfriend and i broke up" she wiped her tears.
"why? you seemed really happy"
"hes gonna be happier with my best friend" she laughed softly, "its okay though" she walked closer to him.
"i am so sorry" he pulled her in for a hug. "its alright" she sniffed.
"god my dress is wet" she breathed as she started to unzip leaving james in obvious shock. "i have a slip underneath don't worry" she laughed.
their faces were so close together and suddenly they just kissed. "oh my god i am so sorry" he apologized. "do you wanna come into my room?" she winked.
"are you sure?" he asked as he followed her. "yes" she nodded.
