gossip girl season two episode two - the freshman
NYU HAS FINALLY OPENED UP. cassie, blair, dan, and vanessa were all planning to go there for the school year, and nate and aubrey were planning to go to columbia and ryan is planning to go to brown.
but unfortunately things change, aubrey had fled from home, and cassie had decided she wasn't ready for college yet.
cassie walked into her favorite coffee shop to grab a latte before she had started her day. "yes I'll get a-" cassie started but was interrupted, "a pumpkin spice latte, and a normal black coffee for me" nate looked over at the girl.
"thank you" she smiled softly. "anytime, so you heading to nyu after this?" he asked. "i'm actually going to defer for a year" she blurted.
"wow, actually?" he was stunned and cassie nodded. "you excited for columbia?" she asked making casual coversation but the two knew it was awkward since they used to be each others everything and now they hadn't spoke since the funeral. "yea yea, but i have time so just making the most of it here" he smiled. "hey listen I wanna make sure things aren't awkward between us" he stuttered. "yeah don't worry they aren't" she laughed a little.
"cassie! nate! oh my god i didn't know you two were still together!" women walked up to the two, it was isabelle collins, aubrey's mom.
"mrs.collins! hey!" nate smiled, "hi!" cassie said cheerfully. "but we aren't together" they said at the same time.
"aw, but aubrey really misses you guys in pennsylvania!" isabelle sat down with the two. "wait you know where she is?" nate asked looking at cassie.
"oh yeah she's staying in pennsylvania for a bit with her grandma" she told the two, "i'm not going to nyu and i have a bunch of free time, do you know the address i would love to go visit her?" cassie grinned.
cassie walked out of the cafe with nate following her. "cassie! when do we go?" nate asked. "we?" cassie awkwardly questioned.
"yes we?" nate said, "nate don't you think it's going to be weird" cassie asked. "no? just two friends looking for their friend, so can i come?" he pleaded. she glared at him then rolled her eyes. "fine"
the two hopped in cassie's car and started to drive. "how long until we get there?" nate whined sitting in the back. "you've asked that 10 times in the last 5 minutes and i've told you 2 hours every time" she groaned.
"your such a slow driver" he told the girl. "if you don't like it you can get out of the car" she rolled her eyes. 30 minutes of silence later nate spoke up. "why did you decide not to go to nyu, you were so excited?"
"i'll just wasn't ready" she stated, "i know you cassie, spill the truth" he told the girl. "before sydney died so much of my time got taken up because of my school life and other stuff. and now that she's dead I don't want to lose someone else and not being able to live my life because of school." she raised her voice. "cassie i'm-" nate said, "it's fine don't worry about it" she said. "um let's change the the topic, are you seeing anyone?" she asked frantically.
"we aren't public yet but I am, bree buckley" he looked over to the girl who had her eyes on the road. "that's great nate, i'm really happy for you" she smiled.
the two walked over to aubrey's grandmothers house and knocked on the door. an old woman opened the door. "hello! how may I help you?" an older woman opened the door. "hey, i'm nate and this is cassidy, is aubrey here? were her close friends from new york." the boy said. "your so cute!" she squeezed his cheeks as cassidy giggled, "your like the young leonardo dicaprio" she poked nate's nose, "aubrey is at karen's cafe, she's taking a shift"
"I don't know what she means by your a young leonardo, he was much cuter" cassie laughed. "says the girl who said I had better hair than patrick verona" he rolled his eyes as he opened the cafe door. "i was in love nate and now that i think of it your hair was like a knock off troy bolton's she covered her smile.
"cassie? nate?" aubrey looked at the two. the two looked at the girl, she was the daughter of two rich bankers who had fled to a small town to work as a waitress.
she looked a lot different. she dyed her hair blonde and it was much longer now.
"let's sit down" she led the two to a table.
"how have you guys been?" she asked the two. "good" nate nodded, and cassie glared, "fine" "what about you?" she asked sternly. "good" she smiled a bit.
"aubrey, why did you leave?" cassie bluntly asked. aubrey had started to tear up, "because i'm 5 months pregnant" she stated looking at the two.
"what?!" the two shouted. "elaborate please" nate told the girl.
"the reason i left was because i found out i was a week pregnant and now im currently 5 months" she whispered.
"i'm gonna give you two some space, meet me outside when your done" he pat cassie on the back before leaving.
"cassie i'm so sorry about sydney and dylan" aubrey said. "you knew?" cassie asked. "i read about it" the long haired blonde said.
"you couldn't have given me a call or came to the funeral?" cassie raised her voice, "i'm sorry i was scared of people finding out!" aubrey choked. "but you didn't even care about how i was doing" cassie told the girl who lowered her head.
"you need to tell ryan about this baby, assuming it's his?"
"im not a slut cassidy" she rolled her eyes. "are you coming back to new york?" the gilmore leaned back.
"fine" she glared.
cassie and aubrey walked back to the car in complete silence. "your coming back?" nate asked the girl, and aubrey nodded.
"it's good to have you back aubs" nate hugged the girl. "it's good to come back nate", she hugged him back.
