CASSIE LOOKED AROUND THE ROOM OF HER ULTRASOUND APOINTMENT. nate had practically forced her to book one but couldn't attend due to some family/work problems.
the fear she has is slowly starting to wash away but now its just nerves.
the doctor came in with papers in her hand, which made cassie tense up a bit. "alright cassidy! your blood pressure looks good and so does your heartrate so let's check on your baby" she smiled, setting up the ultrasound equipment.
"oh thats weird?" she moved the scanner around and cassie tensed up. "what? what happened?" she panicked, "i couldn't feel a heartbeat but now i can, its perfect" the doctor smiled at the scared girl.
"well your about five-six weeks, and i don't see any bad signs, heartrate is amazing and everything checks out." the doctor said.
"i'll prescribe you some medication for your morning sickness but it should clear up after the first trimester" the doctor told the girl.
after the appointment cassie headed over to the spectator to update nate but saw him looking pretty frustrated. "oh hey! you look busy, i'll come back later" she headed out but nate stopped her.
"please stay your the most beautiful face i've seen after this awful day" he said and she came closer. "that bad huh?" cassie asked and he nodded. "today yes, charlie's ex max came, oh god" he put a hand to his head.
"at least vermont will give us a break" she said, trying to cheer him up. "actually, my grandfather just admitted to me that the only reason i have this job is because he bought the spectator" he said, and cassie gave him an empathetic look.
"and here i was thinking i was doing great work and so proud and now i feel like a total fraud" he ranted, "it doesn't matter how you got here nate, once you started the job you did the work. its clear you've become the person you want to be" cassie replied and he gave her a smile. "thanks" he said. "of course, i should get going" cassie said, about to head out. "i'll pick you up so we can head to charlie's party for a bit tonight"
later that night cassie and nate were about to enter charlie's party when they saw max walking past. "what the hell are you doing here?" nate asked walking up to him as cassie followed. "thought i'd check out charlie's party for myself" max responded. "you leave her alone" cassie said.
"just because your not interested in my story, doesn't mean no one else is, society princess exposed as white-trash fraud. sounds pretty compelling to me" max said as cassie glared at him. "well we'll just have make sure no one lets you in through the door. come on cass" nate said as he and cassie walked away. "that was hot" cassie whispered to him as they walked inside. "why thank you" he whispered back.
the two found charlie and walked up to her. "charlie!" cassie called out. "cassie, nate? i didn't think you guys would be coming" charlie said, "yeah we can't stay but max is here, hes trying to sell the story to one of the reporters" nate said, "you guys don't think anyone would believe him right?" charlie asked, "i don't know, but a story's a story, true or false it can go a long way" cassie stated.
serena walked up to the group, finishing up a call with louis. "do any of you guys know where blair or dan are?" serena asked, "there's dan" charlie pointed to dan who was showing chuck a room, with blair in it.
"whats he doing?" cassie asked, "looks like hes helping chuck and blair finally be together" nate responded. "god if paparazzi knew they were here let alone together they would swarm the party" cassie said. "really?" charlie looked at the girl and the blonde nodded. "i need a drink, come on cassie" serena pulled the girl away.
cassie and serena walked over to the bar where aubrey was sitting. "don't judge me, i haven't drank in a while" aubrey said while drinking. "no ones judging you, i've had a long day" serena said sitting down next to the brunette.
"two white wine's please" serena said looking at cassie who shook her head. "no alcohol for me" cassie put her hands on her lap. "why not? are you pregnant or something?" aubrey joked, "actually yeah" cassie looked over at her two friends who spit out there drinks.
"what?!" aubrey gasped. "when did this happen?" serena asked with a huge smile. "i'm only six weeks" cassie smiled as she hugged her two friends. the three's sweet moment was interrupted when a gossip girl blast went out.
"its about blair and chuck, i should go" cassie stood up. "cass wait!" serena said, and cassie turned around. "congrats" she smiled, and cassie mouthed a "thank you" as she quickly walked away.
"oh hi!" cassie approached the door to the room blair and chuck were in when she saw nate doing the exact same thing. "hey you, i came to tell-" he said but she interrupted, "i know, we need to hurry"
cassie opened the door with her hand covering her eyes. "sorry to bother you, just wanted to make sure you saw the gossip girl blast" cassie said. "you can open your eyes cassie, and we need to leave immediately" chuck said.
"cassie and i have a car waiting for us" nate spoke, "so do i" blair stated. "great we can leave through the garage" nate said and the four quickly and slowly made their way to the garage.
cassie shut the door to the garage shut as she was the last one to leave. "took you long enough, and i'm not talking about the walk from the lobby to here" nate said as the group was about to part ways. "have a good trip you two" chuck said as he shook nates hand. "you too guys" cassie smiled as her and nate walked to their car.
"cassie, nate!" blair called out from across. "congrats on your baby" blair said, "thank you" cassie smiled as she got into the car.
cassie and nate had started driving it was pretty silent until nate spoke. "i completely forgot to ask you, how did the appointment go?" he asked the girl who was laying on his shoulder. "it went pretty good, she was telling me what i can and can't eat and drink, my vitals and the baby's too, she did scare me quite a bit though" cassie laughed awkwardly.
"how?" nate asked, "for a second she couldn't feel the baby's heart beat, but she was just in the wrong place" cassie said.
suddenly a swarm of paparazzi zoomed past the car and sped up. "is that paparazzi?" nate asked as cassie leaned forward to try to get a better look. "yeah, looks like there chasing the car in front of us, pretty aggressive" the driver said as nate sighed. "yeah i think they're chasing my friends" he said.
"there's so many" cassie added. nate's grandfather ended up ringing his phone so he picked it up. "hey grandfather. we were a little late leaving the empire, but we are on our on our way to westchester right now" nate said, "westchester i thought i was taking you to the upper east side?" the driver questioned. "what no? i'll call you back" nate said.
"oh no no no, we have a flight out of westchester airport in 45 minutes" nate said. "would we have time to get sushi?" cassie asked, "no and you aren't even allowed to have it" nate told the girl.
"my god, these motorcycles are aggressive" the driver said as the paparazzi continued chasing chuck and blair, getting even closer.
"oh my god!" nate yelled as everyone saw chuck and blair's car crash into a wall. "oh my" cassie cupped her mouth with her hand.
the two sprinted out of the car and went to check on chuck and blair. "b? blair?" cassie tried to shake the girl.
"i'm gonna call 911!" cassie said with tears, fear and panic in her eyes.
"hello?!" cassie frantically spoke, "911, whats the emergency?" the operator spoke.
