gossip girl season two episode three - the dark night

CASSIE, aubrey, blair and serena all were sat in aubrey and ryan's newly finished apartment. blair was too focused on her back to school party so the other three were making small talk. 

"the apartment looks amazing aubrey" serena complimented, "thanks! we recently just finished it a couple days ago" aubrey smiled, "you wanna know what my favorite part of the house is?" ryan eavesdropped into the girls conversation. "the bedroom" ryan placed a kiss onto his girlfriend's head. serena let out a chuckle and cassie was clearly unfazed. "ew ew gross! i do not want to hear about your sex lives please!" she gagged. 

"hey not my fault i'm having better sex than you cass" nathan remarked as cassie rolled her eyes. serena and aubrey shot ryan an ugly look, "stop it ryan!" aubrey said as she let her self go from his wrap and leaned onto her best friends shoulder. "i'm so sorry about you and nate cass" serena comforted leaning across the table to touch cassie's hand. "its fine rena, it was for the best" cassie sighed. "well fuck him cassie" aubrey growled. 

"hey hey, don't say that about my nate!" ryan defended, "your nate?" blair chuckled looking up from her planning. "yes blair my nate! so don't go talking smack about my favorite person!" ryan joked, and the girls laughed except aubrey who kicked his arm. 

"at least you guys are in happy relationships" cassie muttered. 

her and nate hadn't seen each other since the "break up." cassie was super mad about him lying to her, and was uncomfortable knowing he was going to be sleeping with another woman. nate understood why she was mad and was also awkward around his girlfriend when they both knew he also was going to have to sleep with someone else. they had called once after to discuss details and were meeting to have lunch today.

"yes we are in happy relationships!" serena looked at blair who was giving her a nasty look. "blair i know you know about me and dan! why aren't you happy for me?" serena turned to look at her best friend, "have you guys talked about the reasons why you guys broke up last year?" blair retaliated harshly. "not yet" serena stammered. "when you do I will be happy for you, right now, i'm not" blair said looking back at her papers. 

"i'm gonna go, bye guys" serena said getting up. cassie looked at the time and she had to meet nate to talk. "i'm gonna get going too" cassie said. she ruffled her twin brother's hair and left. 

cassie caught up to serena and the two walked over to their destinations together. "blair can be so blair at times, it really annoys me!" serena ranted. "rena, i'm saying this because i love you and want the best for you, but blair is right." cassie let out. "are you kidding me cassidy?!" serena yelled, "rena calm down, i love you and humpty dumpty together" cassie paused to make sure serena was listening, "but you guys need to talk about what happened last year" 

"i guess you and blair are right" serena admitted rolling her eyes at the thought. "but seriously cass, humpty dumpty?" serena asked laughing. "its not an insult" cassie put her arm over her friends shoulder. "where you going?"  "to meet dan" serena awkwardly said, "you?" 

"i would rather not say" cassie chuckled. "come on tell me, if you want it kept a secret, i wont tell, promise!" serena forced. "nate's, but don't tell anyone please" cassie asked. "i wont." serena hugged the girl.

the two said their goodbyes and went separate ways. soon cassie found herself at nate's doorstep. she was really nervous since this was their first meeting since the "break up". 

"hey cassie, come in" nate smiled at her.

 oh god how cassie loved that smile. 

she gave him a small smile and walked inside. "can i offer you some coffee, just the way you like it?" he asked in a soft voice. "i can never say no to that" she chuckled. nate brought over the coffee, and the two sat down in silence.
