gossip girl season two episode nineteen - the grandfather

IT HAD BEEN OFFICALLY TWO WEEKS SINCE THE AUBREY DRAMA HAPPENED. cassie, blair , serena and nate had called her multiple times but she had changed her cell.
nate and ryan had made plans to watch a basketball game but cassie decided to tag along. "so the blair waldorf has been staying over for the past week?" cassie teased her brother. "it's not like that cass, she needs a friend, and i need a friend" he told her.
the two approached the archibald home but spotted nate talking to someone. "cassie, ryan hey! this is my cousin tripp vanderbilt" nate introduced. "hey it's nice to meet you guys, i was just inviting nate to our family reunion" tripp said. "nah man it's fine" nate said, "come on man you'll see maureen there, we finally got engaged y'know" tripp smiled.
inside the archibald house cassie and ryan were trying to convice nate to go. "guys I don't know if i'm ready to forgive them for shutting me and my mom out" nate said. "come on n, remember those fun times with your cousins and how much you care about your grandfather" ryan said. "uhm thats me,serena, blair" cassie paused, "and aubrey's thing" cassie's voice went quiet.
"but seriously nate you should go, atleast see them once, me and ry can come with you" cassie said. "fine" he rolled his eyes.
cassie, ryan, nate and tripp made their way to the vanderbilt house. "oh yeah i forgot to add that grandfather doesn't know your coming" tripp slipped out.
william was happy to see nate show up and gave cassie and ryan a tour of the vanderbilt house.
cassie watched her brother and boyfriend play touch football with the rest of the vanderbilts. soon a woman approached her.
"I remember my first time here, indimidating to say the least" she laughed. "your right about that" cassie smiled. "i'm maureen, tripps girlfriend" she introduced herself. "i'm cassidy, nates girlfriend" cassie shook the womans hand.
"everyone really likes you, i bet their designing campaign posters already." maureen chuckled, and cassie gave her a confused look. "with nates charm, your background" she stated, "excuse me?" cassie asked. "the daughter of a top surgeon and famous lawyer who gave up her wealth to try to become a popstar, yeah i've seen your work" she smiled.
cassie let out a small laugh, "i think you've misinformed, the only thing nates ever voted for is american idol"
"tripp was the exact same way, now he's a law review at yale and about to clerk for the supreme court. grandfather can be extremely persuasive." she stated.
the next day cassie was back at the vanderbilt's for a cocktail party, when tripp approached her. "hey! you must be really happy for nate about his internship this summer" tripp enthusiastically told the girl. "what internship?" cassie asked in curiosity since nate hadn't told her about any of this. "the internship at the mayor's office? grandfather called nate last night and told him about it?" tripp questioned but the girl didn't know any of this.
cassie walked up to nate and pulled him aside. "hey um why didn't you tell me about the internship?" cassie asked, "i guess tripp told you, i didn't even know if i wanted to do it or not" nate told the girl. "oh-" she was cut off by seeing blair who was clearly intoxicated, "oh god" she mouthed quietly. " i got to go" she said than walked over to blair.
cassie and chuck had both made their way over to blair and pulled her away before she said anything else. "i am so sorry about her" cassie apologized pulling blair's arm away. "big fan of your sites" chuck winked at the man. "bass!" cassie scolded and tugged him away too.
she threw the two in a room and walked off to find nate, but he found her first. "cassie i want to take the internship" he told the girl. "nate no matter what you do i'm your biggest supporter always" she hugged him. "will my grandson please join us?" william asked raising his glass in the air.
nate gave a huge speech and took a breath, "i hope to find everything i'm looking for this summer at the mayors office" he raised his glass in the air and everyone started cheering, including cassie.
cassie came home that night to find sydney and jenny sitting down on the couch eating popcorn. "hey cassie!" jenny greeted. "hey jen and syd" she smiled. "y'know cassie if nate becomes mayor" sydney started and cassie glared at her intrested to see what she was about to say. "you could technically become a princess" sydney told the girl. "sydie, she wouldn't become a princess, how the hell would that work? she would become a mayoress, right cass?" jenny asked the girl.
"how did you guys know about nate and the mayor internship thing?" cassie asked while pouring herself a glass of wine. "it was on tv, we saw you too!" sydney told her sister. "oh wow" cassie widened her eyes.
"they should turn the vanderbilts into a reality show just like the kardashians" cassie drank. "i would make such an amazing khloe"
"i'm defined a kourtney" jenny winked at the younger blonde.
soon after jenny left sydney approached cassie. "oh hey cass, mom had her baby, she's a healthy girl, she put it up for adoption" sydney told the girl. "thank god" cassie exhaled as she put away her mother's favourite wine that she drank. "but cassie I noticed something weird about the baby-" sydney started but cassie interrupted.
"syd, i'm drunk, exhausted and worried my boyfriend might turn into his cousin, and I don't wanna talk about my irresponsible mother's baby right now." she drunkly groaned and fell asleep on the couch.
