gossip girl season two episode thirteen - o brother, where bart thou?

CASSIDY, ryan and sydney gathered around the kitchen counter discussing the loss of bart bass. none of them ever thought bart bass would die so soon, and how much of an effect it would have on their mom.
monica davis hadn't left the couch since she heard of bart's accident. the only times she would leave is to shower and change her clothes. she hadn't talked at all, not even made and remarks to cassie.
"god i feel so bad for chuck and lily" cassie muttered taking a sip of her coffee. "yeah same especially since i've been in chucks position before" sydney murmured and cassie placed her hand on her shoulder.
"i'm gonna go check on mom" sydney said getting up and walking over to her mother.
"have you talked to chuck?" cassie asked her twin brother. "i tried to head to his hotel but no one let me in, what about you?" ryan told his sister. "i called him a couple times, no answer"
"cassie, ryan, may i see you for a second?" sydney stuttered. the twins followed sydney to her bedroom and sydney dropped onto the bed. "syd what happened?" cassie asked.
"i went up to mom and sat down next to her and she kept whispering, what am i gonna do with the baby now multiple times" she breathed. "syd, moms probably distressed from all of this chaos" ryan said sitting down next to her. "yeah but-" sydney started.
"sydney its most likely nothing" cassie said. "most likely? what if it has something to do with bart!" sydney sniffed and started to tear up.
cassie looked at ryan and knew exactly why sydney was crying. "sydney, sydney!" cassie pulled the crying girl into a hug.
sydney pulled away from the hug and wiped her tears, "i'm gonna head over to jenny's ill meet you guys at the funeral" sydney sniffed walking out the door.
cassie, ryan and monica rode to the funeral in silence. cassie looked through her window and saw a bunch of arguing. "vincent, let me and ryan out here please" cassie told the driver than quickly got out of the car.
cassie saw chuck yelling at dan for some reason and they were surrounded by aubrey, nate, blair, and soon serena and aaron.
"what are you doing at my father's funeral?!" chuck drunkly yelled at dan. cassie hurriedly walked over to her boyfriend and best friend.
"whats going on?" cassie asked. "chucks drunk" nate whispered into her ear.
chuck grabbed dan and whispered something into his ear, and serena came running.
"chuck! dan has been helping us unlike you!" serena yelled. "helping us? do you have any idea what his family has done?" chuck argued back.
cassie and nate looked at eachother in confusion.
soon cece came and made dan left. serena tried to intervene but aaron came.
"serena let him go its fine" he placed his hand on the girls back.
"aaron back up" cassie said firmly. the shorter blonde put her arm around her friends to show her some support.
the group started walking, and lily tried to touch chuck but he quickly retallied. "dont touch me whore!" he yelled at the innocent blonde woman.
"charles please, you need to be with your family!" lily begged. "what family? they're all dead!" he shouted.
the group were all in shock by how chuck was acting.
as the group entered the funeral cassie saw sydney walking with eric and jenny. she was holding onto jenny's arm and was avoiding eye contact with anyone.
after the funeral everyone returned to the vanderwoodsens for the reception.
cassie entered the building and tried to find sydney. she spotted her sitting down with jenny and walked over.
"hi" she said softly, jenny gave cassie a sweet smile than spoke up, "i'm gonna give you guys some space" jenny said before getting up.
"hey" sydney tried to smile. "are you okay?" cassie asked. "yeah i'm fine, i'm sorry i shouldn't be making this about me" sydney apologized. "your not its okay syd" cassie put her hand on her sister's shoulder. "its just that the last funeral i was at, was my dad's and all the memories are coming back." she sniffed.
"i know i know" cassie pulled the sad girl into her arms. "i'm sorry i didn't mean it take it out on you and ryan" sydney cried.
