twenty one

[Sean's POV]

"GET YOUR IRISH ASS OUTTA THAT BATHROOM NOW!" Aaron yelled, banging repeatedly on the bathroom door. I rolled my eyes at him and laughed as Daithi yelled back at him, everybody was dashing around and the whole morning was just hectic.

"Has anybody heard from Ken?" Bob asked, walking past me with a bowl of cereal in his hand,

"I haven't but please don't spill that, please." Wade begged, cupping his hands underneath just in case, "We spent way too long tidying this place up yesterday." I laughed at them and asked Bob to give Ken a call, just to see how he was doing.

Daithi finally unlocked the bathroom door and walked out freshly showered, but I dashed past Aaron and locked the door before he could get in.

"OH MY GOD SEAN, YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!" Aaron huffed, I laughed and began to brush my teeth, rolling my eyes at all of the yelling and arguing outside.

"Sean, Jack, come on dude, I need to shower." Aaron whined, banging the door slightly.

"Go away ya smelly!" I shouted back after rinsing my mouth, he began mumbling things under my breath and I unlocked the door - unexpectedly - as Aaron fell flat on the floor. He thanked me and shoved me out before strutting in and slamming the door shut.

Half an hour had passed and everybody was dressed and ready for Mark's return, however they were all sat watching me for guidance. I paced back and forth in front of them before pointing at Daithi and Aaron,

"Can you guys go and get the cake? But you have to be quick, Ken's not certain how long is left until Mark gets here." They nodded and stood up,

"Do you need anything else or just cake?" I shrugged my shoulders and they nodded before leaving the apartment.

"Bob can you do one last tidy up?" He nodded and got to work, I looked over at Wade and he held up his laptop on his knee.

"Do you mind if I skype Molly? I told her I would."

"Sure." I smiled at him and he excused himself to Mark's bedroom, I looked around me and tried to make the room look like there had been nobody in it. Ken had told Mark he'd cleaned the place up for him but there were still things that would make it obvious somebody else was here, like Wade's shoes just casually placed under the table. I picked them up and chucked them into Mark's room, waving at Molly before shutting the door.

I couldn't believe that this was finally it, I was going to see my best friend again after what had felt like the worst weeks I'd ever been through. I missed him and he was pretty aware of that, so I wanted his return to be special. In Mark's mind, he was going to come back to his apartment with Ken and chill out, playing video games and relaxing.

In my mind, Mark was going to come back to his apartment, be surrounded by people that he means the world to and hopefully be super happy and forget that we were ever away. I walked into the bathroom and looked at my appearance in the mirror, I ran my fingers through my fringe and tried to fluff it up a little but my hair just didn't seem to be falling right. I didn't want to cut it before I came out here but I still wanted it to look good. I groaned and pulled on my red top, cringing slightly. Was my body to skinny for this? Or did I just look stupid in general?

I was snapped out of my anxious thoughts by the sound of the front door opening, I rushed out of the room, just skimming Bob and smiled as Daithi and Aaron walked through the door. Aaron was clutching the cake tightly and watching every step he took, I smiled at how careful he was being and took the cake from him, putting it on the side in the kitchen. When I returned we all sat down on the sofas and began talking about Mark and his return,

"I just wish I could have made it more special, I know he loves you guys and all that but I feel like it's not good enough. I could have done more than just fly out over here, he doesn't care about that." I said sadly, suddenly regretting my choices for today. I felt a warm hand on my shoulder and turned to see Wade stood next to me,

"You couldn't be more wrong. Mark's going to love this, even Molly said. She's amazed at how much effort you've put into this and Mark will be just as amazed, don't stress about it. He'd be fine with just a card, you know what Mark's like." A small side grin appeared on my face as I took in what Wade had just said, I suppose he was right but I still wasn't one hundred percent convinced. We all jumped at the sound of my phone buzzing on the table, so I leant across and grabbed it.

"It's Ken, he's just picked Mark up and they're on the way now." Everybody suddenly went into panic mode and we all dashed around making sure that everything looked normal,

"I didn't think I'd be this nervous." Aaron joked, we all agreed.

"We all need to find hiding spaces too guys," Daithi added. We all looked around the room and found places to hide, I shotgunned the chair closest to the door and walked over to it, turning to look at the others.

"All of you get into your positions and I'll say if I can see you." Everybody dropped to the floor and hid behind various objects, I gave them the all clear and they stood up and began talking again. I hit the lights as we waited for the sound of the car outside, and within minutes, we heard it. I hissed 'he's here' to the others and we all dived into our hiding places, I squatted and my breath hitched when I heard Mark's voice from outside. I immediately began to feel sweaty and my body trembled a little, why was I getting so nervous about this?

My heart began to race as there was an unlocking sound in the front door, I let out a shaky breath as it opened slowly.

"I just hope that the viewers don't mind that I-"

"SURPRISE!"
