Chapter 65

----------------------

"It's no where near as dramatic as you thought it was."

They all breathed a sigh of relief, and Amber cut her eyes at Annabelle who shrugged.

"Then why was he bleeding?"

Nathaniel, thought about it for a minute and came up with an answer.

"We have to remember that, as of now, Drake and The Eighth are two seperate entities. Drake controls the body and The Eighth is now a sort of spirit floating around the atmosphere. Since they were separated so forcible the body doesn't want to go through that trauma again, so it rejects the possession."

"That still explains nothing to me."

"If you hold your horses, you'll understand. Anyway, Drake was possessed for too long and it was beginning to take a toll on his body. That's all."

"Will he be okay?"

Isabella asked, the most concerned out of all of them.

"Aye. Just let him sleep. The only problem is when he wakes up."

"Why is that a problem?"

"When he wakes up and finds himself kidnapped (basically) on a ship, I don't think he'll be all too pleased."

"What does that mean?"

"He's going to be royally pissed."

***************************

After they were completely sure that

Drake was in fact not dying, they decided to rest.

Everyone had been pretty wound up during the course of the night so when Isabella offered to do the watch she wasn't debated.

She leaned over the side of the ship staring at the black icy calm of the water that was far below them.

They were sailing in cloudless skies and, save for a breeze every now and again, it was a miracle the Ship was in the air.

Actually, now that she was thinking about it, how exactly was this ship able to fly? It was almost as if an eternal wind propelled it.

Oh well, that was something to muse over for another time.

"Careful, you're likely to keel over."

She turned around and saw her brother smiling at her.

"I won't. I was just looking anyway."

"Get over here before you fall anyway."

She rolled her eyes but did as she was told.

Without warning she was hugged. Truthfully, although I am ashamed to say it, the idea of her brother hugging her, creeped the hell out of her. Besides the one time when she was a little girl, the two siblings had never hugged. She didn't even know that Lewis was capable of such an endearing act.

Nevertheless, she placed her hands on his back returning the hug.

"I'm sorry."

"I've already forgiven you."

"No, I mean for the other thing."

He stared down at her and she looked away.

"I forgave you for that too."

He smiled and kissed the top of her head, confusing her further. Then he let her go, returning the customary space that had existed between them since she learned to ride a horse.
