Chapter 36

-----------------------------------------------

The market place was bustling with activity and Morrigan, carried a large wicker basket with a dark, hunter green bow that matched her dress.

She had he long, brown, hair pulled up high in a tight bun with curls flowing around it.

Her bodice was fitted to make her waist tiny and her hips huge.

She wore no make-up save a small dab of lip color she had made from strawberries.

All in all, she was looking forward to the nighttime.

She walked about, enjoying the envious looks she got from the wives and the lustful looks she got from their husbands.

She stopped in front of a Butchers stall and eyed a leg of lamb that was still fresh with blood. A ripe kill.

"Will you be wanting that ma'am?"

"Yes."

"It's a bit pricey, but I promise ya it's a fine piece of meat."

He wrapped up the meat and placed it in her basket, while simultaneously taking his pay.

"Have a nice day ma'am."

He said smiling, tipping his cap at her.

"Thank you very much."

She wandered about eyeing the people. She stopped and bought bread, some vegetables and found herself to be completely bored by the time the sun set.

All the venders were putting up their wares and the market place grew increasingly more and more desolate.

She sat upon a discarded chair and watched as the fog rolled in.

Then he appeared before her, the phantasm that haunted her dreams. She called out to him, but he didn't seem to hear her and instead turned away and walked into the direction of the docks.

She got up and ran after him, noticing how the fog became thicker and roads became lonelier.

She followed him until he stopped at end of the wharf.

She stood beside him and watched the inky black waters.

All was silent.

Then she saw the ship.

It was both ghostly in appearance and action. It made little to no sound as it glided through the placid water.

It was a normal looking ship but the fog hung low about it, almost as if it were pulling the ship closer to the wharf.

"Why have you shown me this ship?"

The phantasm pointed towards the looming vessel.

The ship docked silently, and she saw members of its crew sneak from on board and dock the ship.

Then the ship released its cargo.

Immigrants.

It was an unlicensed passenger ship, that carried equally unlicensed people that either couldn't afford the necessary papers or had too much of a record to apply for them.

Morrigan, still had no idea why the phantasm had brought her hear....that is until she saw him.

The mirror image of the phantasm, coming down of the ship.

He held no sack nor baggage of any kind and stared around as if he were a stranger to it all. His eyes rested on her.

He strolled up to her and stood to face her.

He seemed much bigger, now that he had a human body and his steely gray eyes bore into her. He was very muscular and wore black, so that his large figure melted into the night atmosphere.

"You."

He said, with the same voice as the phantasm.

"I've seen you in my dreams."

"Oh? I've seen you in the mirror of my bed room for the past 3 months."

They stood there awkwardly, and the ship that brought him here eased silently away.

She extended her hand.

"I'm Morrigan Tate."

"Drake."

"Welcome to America."
