.(y/n)'s POV:
"Rengoku Kyojuro, in taking (l/n) (y/n) to be your wife, do you so promise to honor, to love, and to cherish her in sickness as in health, in poverty as in wealth, in hardship as in blessing, until death alone shall part you?"
"I do." Kyojuro replied, staring into my eyes throughnout the entire ceremony. As if no one else expect us existed in the room we were in along with our closest family and friends.
For now, everything was finally perfect and turned out to be our most beautiful and special day. However...
Before we reached this part, things didn't go as well as we planned.
Starting with the flowers...
Earlier that day:
"Miss (l/n), I'm arriving soon with the flowers." Said the courier who brought them to our wedding.
I held the phone on speaker, since I was sitting in front of the mirror, the hairdresser working on styling my hair.
I trusted the hairdresser to her imagination. Kanroji suggested me to hire her, since this hairdresser is the one who also escorts her to every important event and styles her hair. The hashira just left the room mere a few minutes ago to go back outside.
I couldn't help but smile at the thought of how beautiful the flowers would look as I told the courier that someone is going to take them soon.
In the corner of the room, Kyojuro's mother, Ruka, watched over the preparations with a warm smile, her heart swelling with pride as she saw the happiness radiating from me. My best friend Noriko chimed in with playful remarks, adding to the light-hearted banter that filled the room.
"Is it the cake?" Noriko asked in excitement.
I turned to her with a smile and whispered. "No. It's the flowers."
"Oh! Let me let me!" I handed her the phone and she explained the directions to the courier, leaving the room in the meantime.
In the midst of the joyful preparations, the hairdresser carefully added the finishing touches to my elegant hairstyle, aiming to place a stunning hair ornament upon my head. However, just as the hairdresser was about to complete her work, Ruka stepped forward, a gentle yet firm expression on her face.
"Wait." she said softly, catching the hairdresser's attention. "I have something special I would like to give (y/n)."
The room fell quiet, curiosity piquing as Ruka reached into a decorative box resting on a nearby table. She carefully pulled out a beautiful hair ornament that glimmered in the sunlight, it's intricate design reflecting her own wedding day. The delicate piece was a symbol of love and commitment, infused with memories of her own journey as a bride.
With a warm smile, Ruka approached me, her eyes shining with emotion. "This is what I wore on my wedding day. I want you to have it, my dear. It holds a piece of my heart, and I believe it will guide you as you step into this new chapter of your life with my son."
As Ruka delicately placed the ornament in my hair, a wave of sentiment washed over the room. I felt honored and touched by Ruka's gesture, my heart swelling with gratitude. The ornament fit perfectly, enhancing my beauty and radiating warmth, much like the love that surrounded me.
I beamed, and couldn't help but wipe away a happy tear, moved by the profound moment.
"Careful now, your makeup!" Ruka warned, her voice a mix of concern and affection. She could see the glistening tears beginning to well up in my eyes, threatening to spill over and ruin the carefully crafted look we had worked so hard on.
