Rogue Bludger

Sunlight shone on the stands of the Quidditch Pitch as the match dragged on.

"Captain Marcus Flint scores again! Slytherin leads sixty to zero!"

The excited voice of Lee Jordan echoed across the stadium.

High above the pitch, Callidora Nott wiped sweat from her eyes and tightened her grip on her bat.

Below her, chaos erupted.

Calli spotted Fred and George struggling to hold one of the bludgers away from Harry.

The iron ball lunged at him again.

And again.

And again. As if it had personal vendetta against the boy.

Calli frowned.

"That's not right..."

She dove toward them, raising her bat.

The bludger streaked toward Harry's shoulder.

CRACK!

Calli swung with all her strength, sending the bludger screaming toward another player.

For a moment she thought she'd fixed it.

Then the ball curved sharply in midair and shot straight back toward Harry.

Calli's stomach dropped.

Someone had tampered with it.

Below, the Gryffindor Quidditch Team signaled for a timeout.

Calli followed the other players down toward the ground where the Madam Hooch hovered nearby.

"That bludger's been tampered with." Calli said sharply as she landed beside her team.

Marcus Flint laughed.

"Who cares? It's only going after Potter."

Calli glared at him.

"For once in your life, Flint play fair."

He stared at her like she'd sprouted a second head.

"Do you even know what that word means?" She added coldly. "Or do I have to spell it out for you?"

Before Flint could respond, Madam Hooch's whistle shrieked through the rain.

"Back in the air!"

Calli kicked off the ground and shot upward.

Almost immediately she spotted the rogue bludger again.

Still chasing Harry.

Still ignoring everyone else.

The Weasley twins were busy dealing with the other bludger.

Which meant Harry was alone.

Calli tightened her grip on the bat and accelerated.

"Not today." She muttered.

The Bludger rocketed toward Harry's back.

Calli intercepted it.

CRACK!

She smashed it toward Alicia Spinnet.

But seconds later it curved around again.

CRACK!

This time she sent it toward Angelina Johnson.

Still it returned.
