Monday morning brought owl post.
Calli had barely started breakfast when a particularly scrawny little owl dropped out of the swarm overhead and landed directly in front of the three girls.
Lucy gasped.
"Oh!"
All three of them recognised what was tied to its leg.
They had requested a copy of The Quibbler almost immediately after Hermione told them about the interview, although none of them had expected it quite yet. Luna hadn't given Hermione a precise publication date.
Calli was already digging through her bag for coins while Lucy impatiently untied the rolled magazine.
"Hold still." Calli told the owl as it attempted to steal a piece of bacon from Stella's plate.
"Excuse you." Stella said, pulling it away.
Calli paid the owl.
It departed with considerably more enthusiasm than it had arrived.
Lucy had already unrolled the magazine.
Then all three girls froze.
Harry's grinning face stared back at them from the front page.
Above him, enormous red letters proclaimed;
HARRY POTTER SPEAKS OUT AT LAST:
THE TRUTH ABOUT HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED AND THE NIGHT I SAW HIM RETURN
A huge smile spread across Calli's face.
"Oh, Hermione." Stella breathed.
"She actually did it." Lucy said.
Calli took the magazine from her.
"No."
She looked down at Harry's photograph again.
"They actually did it."
Harry had spoken.
Hermione had arranged it.
Rita had written it.
And Xenophilius Lovegood had actually printed it.
They bent over the article together.
It was long.
Far longer and more detailed than anything the Daily Prophet had printed about Harry all year.
Harry described the Triwizard Cup becoming a Portkey.
The graveyard in Little Hangleton.
Cedric.
Voldemort's return.
The Death Eaters.
Calli's smile faded into something colder as she read.
Harry gave every name he could remember.
Lucius Malfoy.
Macnair.
Crabbe.
Goyle.
And Cantankerus Nott.
There it was.
In print.
Her father's name.
Not respected Ministry official.
Not prominent member of an old wizarding family.
Death Eater.
Calli stared at it for several seconds.
