October arrived beneath sheets of grey rain.
It had been falling since sometime before dawn, hammering against the castle windows and turning the grounds into a blur of mist and muddy green. Calli, Lucy and Stella were making their way towards the Great Hall for breakfast, Lucy complaining loudly about the weather ruining her hair, when an arm suddenly slipped around Calli's shoulders.
"Morning, love."
Fred pressed a quick kiss to her cheek.
Calli smiled automatically, leaning into him for half a second.
"Morning."
"Alright, keep it in your pants, Weasley," Stella said.
Fred went scarlet.
For one glorious second, he actually looked speechless.
Then he recovered, giving Stella an exaggerated wink.
"Jealous, Addington?"
"Profoundly."
Lucy burst out laughing just as George caught up with them.
"What did I miss?"
"Stella propositioning me."
"I did no such thing."
"Shame. Would've made breakfast interesting."
"I'd like everyone to appreciate that for once I wasn't the one who said something inappropriate." Lucy spoke up.
"A historic morning really." George agreed.
Calli shook her head, laughing as Fred kept his arm securely around her shoulders.
They were still laughing when Hermione appeared directly in their path.
"Morning."
"Morning, Hermione." Calli replied.
Hermione smiled briefly at everyone before looking specifically at her.
"Calli, could I have a word?"
Calli raised an eyebrow.
"Of course."
"Alone."
That immediately caught everyone's attention.
Lucy looked delighted.
"What's happened?"
"Nothing." Hermione replied quickly.
"Then why alone?"
"It's prefect-Head Girl business."
Lucy snorted.
"She'll tell us anyway."
"Lucy." Stella said, grabbing her arm.
"She will!"
"Come on."
"But-"
Stella physically steered her towards the Great Hall.
Fred reluctantly released Calli.
"I expect a full report."
"You won't be getting one if it's actually prefect business."
"Betrayal."
Calli rolled her eyes as Fred and George followed the girls into the Hall.
Once they were gone, she turned back to Hermione.
"What's up?"
Hermione glanced around before stepping further away from the Great Hall doors.
"So... the Hogsmeade trip is next week."
