The Disused Classroom

It was Lucy's idea.

Which, as Stella later pointed out, was already a warning sign.

"You said you'd show us." Lucy insisted as she pushed open the door to an abandoned classroom on the third floor.

Dust swirled in the air as the door creaked inward.

Broken desks were stacked along one wall, a cracked chalkboard leaned crookedly beside them, and the tall windows were clouded with years of neglect. The room smelled faintly of parchment and old spell smoke.

George whistled.

"Brilliant. If we accidentally blow something up, no one will notice."

"We are not blowing anything up." Stella said calmly.

Fred dropped onto a desk.

"Speak for yourself."

Calli closed the door behind them.

"You lot are dramatic."

Lucy crossed her arms.

"No. We're curious."

She pointed at Calli.

"Show us."

Calli sighed.

"You'll regret encouraging them." Stella told her.

Fred grinned.

"Too late."

Calli walked to the center of the room.

"Alright."

She pulled her wand from her sleeve.

The wood gleamed faintly in the dusty light.

Calli glanced down at it.

"It's a questing wand." Calli said simply. "They're meant for witches who... don't sit still."

George grinned.

"So basically it would set itself on fire if it belonged to Percy."

Fred snorted.

Calli rolled her eyes.

"They get bored easily." She said. "Sycamore wands don't like ordinary magic."

"Brilliant!" George said. "Your wand needs entertainment."

Calli ignored him.

She walked to a nearby desk and placed the wand down carefully.

Fred noticed immediately.

"You're not holding it."

"No."

Lucy leaned forward.

"Wait-"

Calli stepped several feet back.

Her blue eyes focused.

For a moment nothing happened.

Then the wand trembled.

Lucy gasped.

The sycamore wand lifted slowly off the desk.

It didn't jerk or wobble.

It floated like it wanted to.

Fred's attention sharpened.

That wasn't just levitation.

That was cooperation.

Calli spoke quietly.

"Wingardium Leviosa."
