By the time the three girls were finally alone in their dormitory that night, Calli had told the story twice.
Once quickly, on the hurried walk back from Hogsmeade.
And once properly now.
Stella and Lucy sat cross-legged on Stella's bed while Calli paced between theirs, recounting everything from the moment she and Fred had landed near Nott Manor.
The wedding dress.
Stella's expression had gone murderous at that.
"You destroyed it?"
"It turned to ash."
"Good."
Calli had decided not to examine precisely how she'd managed that particular piece of magic.
Then came the drawing room.
The voice calling Tinky or Chorky it.
Finding the elves.
Hermione's horrible knitting.
Tinky crying.
Chorky wearing his scarf incorrectly.
Lucy laughed at that, though her eyes immediately filled when Calli told them the two little elves had finally disappeared from the kitchen.
Free.
Then came the pantry.
Neither girl laughed anymore.
"Bellatrix Lestrange?" Stella repeated.
Calli nodded.
"And Rodolphus."
Lucy's face went pale.
"And your father."
"Standing about three feet away from us."
"Three-"
"Possibly two."
"Calli!"
"I'm aware it was bad, Stella."
"Bad?" Stella stared at her. "You were hiding in a cupboard from three Death Eaters."
"Pantry." Calli corrected.
Stella looked ready to throw something at her.
Calli sat on the edge of her bed at last.
She didn't tell them every word she'd overheard.
They knew about Corvus.
They knew about the marriage.
That was enough.
She wasn't particularly interested in repeating the part about her appearance, bloodline or the heirs apparently expected of her.
"Anyway." Calli rubbed her hands over her face. "Any time now I'll get a letter from Father about the elves."
Lucy grimaced.
"He'll know you did it."
"He'll suspect I did it."
"Difference?"
"Proof."
Calli dropped her hands.
"He can't prove I was anywhere near the Manor today. As far as anyone at Hogwarts is concerned, I spent Valentine's Day in Hogsmeade."
"With witnesses." Stella added.
"Many."
Calli glanced towards the dark window.
