Tinky and Chorky disappeared with two soft cracks.
Calli stared at the places where they had been for half a second longer.
Gone.
Actually gone.
A strange pressure lifted from her chest.
She'd done it.
Tinky and Chorky were free.
For approximately ten seconds, everything had gone perfectly.
Unfortunately, Fred Weasley was standing in a kitchen.
A kitchen containing delicious food.
"Calli."
She turned.
Fred was no longer beside the door.
He was standing near the counter.
More specifically, he was staring at the enormous freshly baked pie Tinky had left cooling there.
Calli stared at him.
Fred stared at the pie.
"Don't."
"I haven't done anything."
"You are considering it."
"It smells incredible."
"We are currently trespassing in my father's house while it is potentially filled with escaped Death Eaters."
Fred nodded solemnly.
"Which is why I might need provisions."
"Fred."
"One slice."
"We can't touch anything. Come on." Calli hissed.
Fred cast the pie one last longing look.
"Could've been my last meal."
"If you touch that pie, it might be."
That got him moving.
Calli reached for the kitchen door.
Then froze.
Footsteps.
Coming closer.
Fred heard them at the same moment.
Their eyes met.
Calli extinguished the Muffliato with a flick of her wand.
The footsteps continued towards them.
Too close.
They couldn't make it back to the servants' staircase without being seen.
Calli's eyes darted around the kitchen.
Counter.
Cupboards.
Pantry.
Her gaze snapped towards the narrow wall beside it.
She remembered.
"Here."
She grabbed Fred's wrist.
"Calli-"
"Move."
She dragged him towards what appeared to be nothing more than dark wooden panelling beside the pantry shelves.
Calli pressed her fingers against a tiny indentation in the wood.
Click.
A narrow door released.
