The morning of the match arrived cold and brilliantly clear, the October sky an uninterrupted blue.

Calli lay flat on her bed, already dressed in her Slytherin Quidditch robes, staring up at the green canopy above her.

She didn't feel nervous.

She wasn't excited.

She was simply...

Tired.

"So," She sighed into the quiet dormitory, "let's get this over with."

She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood.

For the first time in her life, she was dreading a Quidditch match.

Not because of Gryffindor.

Not because she thought they'd lose.

Because she wanted everything surrounding it to end.

The taunts.

The hexes.

The endless arguing.

Once the match was over, everyone would eventually calm down.

And they could go back to what actually mattered.

Dumbledore's Army.

Lucy and Stella were already waiting for her, both dressed warmly against the morning chill.

Lucy had painted a green stripe beneath each cheekbone.

Stella had somehow managed to make hers look considerably neater.

"You two are very committed."

"We're supporting our favourite Beater." Lucy declared.

"And trying not to freeze." Stella added.

They climbed out of the girls' dormitory together.

The common room was unusually busy.

Most Slytherins were already awake, talking animatedly about the match.

Calli had barely taken three steps before she noticed two sixth-year girls standing near the fireplace.

The second they saw her, something silver disappeared hurriedly behind one of their backs.

Calli stopped.

The girls froze.

She narrowed her eyes.

"What is it?"

"Nothing."

"Hand it over."

Neither moved.

Calli held out her hand.

"Now."

Looking thoroughly intimidated, one of them reluctantly surrendered the object.

Calli looked down.

A silver badge shaped like a crown rested in her palm.

WEASLEY IS OUR KING

For a heartbeat, she simply stared at it.

Then her jaw tightened.

"Who made these?"

The girls exchanged nervous glances.

"We... we don't know."

"Pansy was handing them out."

"She just told everyone to wear them."

"We don't know who actually made them."

The words tumbled over each other as though they couldn't leave quickly enough.
