Carrots
Rain hammered the grounds of Hogwarts Castle as four very wet students hurried across the lawn from the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
Right in the middle of them, towering above them was a very wet Thestral.
Fred walked quickly across the grounds. Opened the door and held it open for Calli.
Behind him came the unmistakable clop... clop... clop of hooves through puddles.
Fred spun around.
"Calli."
Callidora Nott stopped.
"You are going to have to try to be quieter."
The Thestral stared at him.
Fred gestured vaguely.
Calli snorted.
Her tail flicked rainwater directly onto him.
Behind them, Lucy groaned.
"We are going to leave puddles everywhere."
She pointed dramatically at the corridor stones as they stepped inside the castle.
Water dripped from everyone.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
A perfect trail of evidence.
"Brilliant." Lucy muttered.
"Next time," added Stella, perfectly calm despite being soaked to the bone, "we should perhaps attempt illegal magical activities in dry weather."
Fred turned back toward the entrance hall.
"Alright. Plan."
Calli lowered her head closer to him.
Fred lowered his voice dramatically.
"We sneak you through the corridors to Gryffindor Tower without anyone seeing."
She stared.
Fred nodded confidently.
"Easy."
George snorted.
"Good. Because if Snape catches us we're all dead."
George agreed.
"Painfully."
Two minutes later,
CRASH.
A suit of armor toppled loudly in the entrance corridor.
Fred froze.
Calli froze.
Lucy froze.
Stella closed her eyes briefly.
George looked at the armor on the floor.
"Calli..."
The Thestral lifted one hoof guiltily.
The armor clattered across the floor.
Fred grabbed her muzzle.
"Shh!"
Footsteps echoed down the corridor.
Lucy whispered in horror.
"Oh no."
A tall silhouette appeared around the corner.
Badge gleaming.
Percy Weasley, Head Boy.
"What,,,"Percy began slowly, "is going on here?"
Fred's brain worked instantly.
"Evening, Percy!"
