By Sunday morning, Hogwarts had disappeared beneath nearly two feet of snow.
The grounds were completely white, the trees around the Forbidden Forest bowed beneath the weight of it, and thick drifts had gathered along the edges of the courtyard.
Calli barely noticed.
She was sitting cross-legged on her bed after breakfast, staring down at the fake Galleon in her palm.
Nothing.
She turned it over.
Still nothing.
She rubbed her thumb over the numbers around the edge as though that might somehow convince them to change.
"Come on." She muttered.
Nothing.
Calli sighed dramatically and fell backwards onto her pillows.
"When is Harry going to change this bloody thing?"
Lucy glanced over from where she was attempting to find a matching pair of gloves.
"It's been four days."
"Exactly."
"That's not very long."
"It feels long."
Calli held the Galleon above her face.
She was ready to go back.
Ready to practise.
Ready to teach.
Ready to think about Shield Charms and Impediment Jinxes and anything that wasn't Umbridge, Montague or the broom currently locked inside Umbridge's office.
The D.A. had become the one thing at Hogwarts that felt like they were actually doing something.
And apparently Harry had decided to torture her by not scheduling another meeting quickly enough.
"Get up."
Calli lowered the coin.
"What?"
Stella tossed something at her.
Calli had just enough time to see her coat flying towards her before it smacked her across the face.
"Ow!"
Stella didn't look remotely apologetic.
"The weather is nice, so we're going outside and enjoying the snow."
Calli pulled the coat from her head.
"Get dressed."
"I don't want to."
Lucy finally found her other glove.
"She's been staring at that Galleon since breakfast."
"I have not."
Stella pointed towards the door.
"Outside."
Calli narrowed her eyes.
"When did you become so bossy?"
"Now."
"Fine."
She dragged herself upright.
The courtyard was considerably louder than Calli had expected.
Students had apparently taken one look at two feet of untouched snow and collectively decided homework no longer existed.
