The rest of the weekend passed far more peacefully than the first week had.

By silent agreement, the five of them claimed the same corner of the library each evening, parchment, textbooks and half-finished homework scattered across the table.

It rarely stayed quiet for long.

George was balancing his quill on his upper lip.

Lucy kept stealing everyone else's chocolate.

Stella was somehow already halfway through next week's essays.

Fred was supposed to be writing his Potions homework but had instead doodled an elaborate portrait of Snape with an oversized hooked nose breathing fire.

Calli sighed.

"You do realize that's due tomorrow?"

"I work best under pressure."

"You're not copying off George."

George beamed.

"I inspire greatness."

"You inspire detentions." Stella corrected without looking up from her Herbology essay.

Calli shook her head and reached for another book.

One of the thick, leather-bound books she'd quietly taken from the Restricted Section lay open in front of her, hidden beneath an ordinary Defence textbook whenever Madam Pince happened to walk past.

Every so often she glanced up to make sure the librarian wasn't looking before turning another yellowed page.

She carefully copied a paragraph onto fresh parchment.

Eventually homework gave way to conversation, as it always did.

"Oh, how was Ron's first practice?" Lucy asked, already done trying to finish her essay.

Fred groaned dramatically.

"Malfoy."

That made Calli look up.

"What did he do now?"

"Oh, nothing major." Fred waved a hand dismissively. "Just spent the entire practice shouting at us from the stands."

George immediately slipped into Draco's drawl.

"'Weasley couldn't catch dragon pox if he tried.'"

"'Perhaps Potter should borrow a seeing-eye owl!'"

"'Nice throw, Bell. Shame it landed in Scotland.'"

Lucy groaned.

"What was he doing there?" Calli asked, completely abandoning her notes.

"Montague." George replied darkly.

Calli frowned.

"What about him?"

"He brought the entire Slytherin team."

For a second, she simply stared.

"What?"

"The whole lot." Fred said. "Thought it'd be hilarious to watch our first practice."

Calli slowly closed her book.

A dangerous look crossed her face.

"You are telling me..." She said carefully. "That my captain dragged the entire Slytherin Quidditch team to watch another House's practice?"

George nodded.

"And heckle us."

Calli looked genuinely appalled.
