North opens his eyes as he hears the door open and footsteps approach the bed, "If you wake her I will make you pay," he whispers without opening his eyes.
"When did she–"
"About two," he interrupts as he carefully slips out of the bed without waking her. They watch as she scoots closer to Silas and falls back asleep as North pulls the covers back over them.
"Go," Silas mutters, "got her."
North places a kiss on both of them before following Sean out of the room and down to the kitchen. He grabs a bottle of water. "Stop searching Nathan," he says as Nathan peeks into the kitchen. "She is with Si fast asleep."
"Oh thank goodness," Nathan sighs as he walks in and collapses into a chair rubbing his neck.
"She came in about two," North yawns after taking a drink of his water. "Found her curled up at the end of the bed when I heard the bathroom door shut. Think she didn't want to wake us. She said she had a nightmare and she was hurting but by the time I came back from getting her medicine she was fast asleep in Silas' arms. She still sleeping."
"Here," Axel said as he placed a plate of eggs in front of the Greek. "She managed to get all the way down the hall on her own, her strength is returning."
"And she sought us out instead of hiding in her closet, that's progress," Sean nodded. "And the fact she sought out you two instead of just going to Nathan if she saw him or one of us in the next room to hers has to mean something too."
"Yeah," Axel nodded, "she is starting to trust us again."
"Go get some proper sleep Nathan," Sean nodded to the red head. "You have physical therapy with her this afternoon."
"Yeah," Nathan nodded as he stood, "I could use a few more hours of sleep. See you later."
"How did the rest of her night go?" Sean asked. "Any more nightmares? I could try and get her to take a sleep aid but I don't think she will really want to take one."
North shook his head, "No, once she was between Si and me, she slept the rest of the night. She didn't stir once other than to roll from one of us to the other." He yawned, "but it was in her sleep so I don't think she realized it."
"Has she came to anyone else?" Sean asked curiously. "She hasn't came into Owen or my room."
The rest of the men that were awake shook their heads, "Think this is a new development, Doc," Axel said as he handed a packed lunch to him. "I'm off today so I'll let you know how she is when she wakes."
"Thought you had that meeting you had to attend to and then you were showing Isiah how to handle a new truck of arrivals at the aquarium," Sean said confused.
"Oh shit, that's right," Axel sighed heavily. "Alright, well who is staying home today with our wife?"
"Well Si is with her now, I doubt he will go in today since she came to us this morning," North said as he ate. "If she is being clingy and wanting to be cared for he isn't going to miss the opportunity."
"Plus he's our gentle giant and she always sought him out for comfort before," Axel nodded, "makes sense she sought him out after the nightmare and will want him even without realizing it."
"I'll make sure he lets you know how she is when she wakes," North said as he finished his water. "I'm not going into the shop until I know she's okay. Elijah is working on a truck and Brandon and I can go back and forth if we need to. He'll understand and as quickly as Elijah has been picking up on things, he barely needs any help."
"That's good," a few of the men replied.
"See you later," Axel and Sean said as they left for work.
"I know you woke the moment your door opened," Owen said as he set his teacup down. "How is she really? Not the answer you think I want to hear."
"Her walking is improving but so is her stubbornness," North replied. "She stood there for a few minutes before getting on the bed and making sure she didn't wake us."
"Do not forget, Mr. Taylor, that she thinks she's not allowed to ask us for help or that everything is a privilege, even eating and sleeping. She has a lot of unlearning to do, more than when she first married us." Owen opened his newspaper, "If she didn't want to wake you, then how did she end up between the two of you?"
"I moved her to us," North sighed, "Thought she was asleep not just almost asleep."
"And the fact that she let you move her without protest?" Owen asked as he barely lowered the newspaper to look at North. "Doesn't sound like stubbornness to me."
"She could have woke us when she first walked in," North grumbled. "She was hurting. I didn't even get to give her any medicine, she was asleep by the time I came back with it."
"So you give it to her when she comes down for breakfast," Owen said as he held the newspaper back up. "Give it to her with her other medicine."
"She still should have told us."
"Alright, Angelos Mou," Silas' voice came from the other side of the kitchen door. "Close your eyes, the lights will be bright."
Owen lowered the newspaper and locked eyes with North before raising an eyebrow.
