"Oh my sweet baby child," Mabel gasped as she held her hand to her chest seconds after stepping foot into the hospital room.
"You must be Miss Dawn," Sean said as he turned away from his wife and faced the older woman. "Thank you for coming."
"Our sister?" the twins standing behind her asked nervously.
"And before you say anything," the other identical twin said through clenched teeth, "she is OUR sister. Skin color does not matter to us, she's our family."
"Agreed," Marc nodded, "the thought never crossed our minds but thank you for making it perfectly clear how you feel about our wife. We appreciate it and they may have already said it but I will say it again, welcome to our family."
"Jennifer is no longer in a medically induced coma," Sean said as Mabel walked over to the hospital bed. He stepped to the side and watched as she nervously slid her hand under Jennifer's. "She could wake at any time, but it seems like she's struggling on wanting to wake up. We think she would be more comfortable with you."
"You're her family," Silas nodded. "She would feel safer with you."
"Are you going to send us away, too?" One of the twins asked.
"Never," Marc shook his head. "Like I said, you're part of our family now."
"You'll forgive us if we don't believe you," the other twin scoffed.
"Hush Child," Mabel scolded without turning to address them. "These men didn't have to tell us about Jenny or ask for our help. Shut your mouths."
"Yes, Momma," they replied in unison.
"Now I see why the guys say it's creepy when we do it," Brandon chuckled as he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall.
"Sorry Momma," one of the twins said as his phone started ringing. "It's the college about my applications, I'll take it outside."
She barely nodded as he left the room. "You're trying to get into college?" Kota asked curiously.
"Eli is," Isaiah shook his head, "I'm trying to get into mechanic school. Eli wants to learn about those glowing fish and stuff."
"Bioluminescence?" Axel asked curiously.
"Sure," Isaiah shrugged. "Sounds about right."
"You don't need to go to mechanic school," North shook his head. "Once Baby wakes up and Doc says she's good, show up at the shop and we'll teach you what you need to know."
"Seriously?" Elijah asked.
"Course," Brandon nodded, "you're family."
The door opened and Isiah walked in. "Sorry Momma, but I need to get to work."
She turned to face him, "What did he say?"
He glanced around then shook his head, "Not now, Momma. We will talk later but I need to go."
"Where are you trying to get in?" Axel asked.
"The university," Isaiah admitted.
"Who is your advisor?"
"Stephen Brown."
Axel pulled out his phone, "Toma speaking, put me through to Stephen Brown." He held back a smirk at the twins' confused looks. "Brown, I want Isaiah Dawn on my scholarship, full ride. He will be my intern and assistant as well. No, his brother will be working with North and Brandon. Thank you." He dropped his phone next to him, "You can pick up your books and supplies in the morning. You will be at the aquarium after your classes."
"Seriously?" Isaiah asked after he could pick up his mouth from the floor.
"Same Dude," Elijah chuckled.
"You are our family," Marc shrugged, "we take care of our family."
"Besides, Axel will enjoy having someone that has the same interests as him," Corey nodded. "And North and Bran were talking about needing to hire someone else but not being able to find someone they could trust. This is a win-win for everyone."
Mabel smirked, "See I told you God provides. You just needed to believe and have faith. Listen to your momma, I was right."
"Yes Ma'am," Elijah and Isaiah said in unison.
Mabel gently scooted Jennifer over a little and sat on the edge of the bed. She tucked the blanket better around her before slipping her hand under Jennifer's once more. Silence filled the room as everyone held their breath in anticipation as they watched to see what would happen.
"Alright, Child, that's enough beauty sleep for you now," Mabel said, purposely ignoring the chatter behind her as she pushed some of Jennifer's hair behind her ear. "Time to rise and shine."
Silence filled the room as the sound of sheets shifting came from the bed. Jennifer's eyes barely fluttered before her lips cracked open, "Maymee?"
