Should I delete this and put it on the previous chapter?
...
The first thing I noticed when I woke was the light. Blinding white lights shone directly overhead, forcing me to squint as I slowly became aware of the cold metal beneath me. I tried to move, but my arms wouldn't budge. My hands were secured tightly against the platform.
Panic immediately set in.
"Where am I?" I shouted, my voice echoing through the unfamiliar room. A familiar voice answered from somewhere nearby. "My robotics lab. Can I get you something? Water, tea, or perhaps a sharp pain in your neck while we remove your bionic chip?"
My eyes widened. "Giselle? What are you doing?" I struggled against the restraints as I noticed my brother laying beside me. "Dawn! What do you want with my sister?" Giselle merely giggled as she approached, completely unfazed by my anger. "Nothing. She simply got in the way." I let out a frustrated sigh and dropped my head against the cold metal.
Then another voice joined in. Troy chuckled as he walked toward the platform. "You know, I was built on this very table. Kind of funny, isn't it? This is where I had my first day." He stopped beside me. "And you're having your last."
"All this technology, and you couldn't give him a sense-of-humor app?" Troy's expression immediately soured as I let out a scoff, ignoring his glare. "Oh, please. Like you have one." Giselle didn't even acknowledge our argument. Instead, she continued explaining her plan as though she were giving a presentation. "With your chip, I can finally give my androids superior intelligence. And unlike bionic humans, they won't be vulnerable to things like pain, or emotion, or their lives ending."
I glared at her. "My family will come for us." "I'm sure they would." Giselle replied calmly. "If they weren't about to be involved in a terrible accident."
My stomach dropped. "Accident?" I asked. "What are you talking about?" Giselle walked over to her desk. With a few taps, a monitor flickered to life, displaying a live feed from the exterior of the film set.
"Ten seconds!" my sister yelled through the screen as I stared at the monitor, my stomach tightening as the countdown continued. "Wait." Leo narrowed his eyes at the robots around them. "Something's weird. Why would Giselle leave all her androids behind just to blow up with us?" His observation seemed to make perfect sense, but Giselle didn't even flinch. She simply stood there, watching the monitor with an unsettling calmness. Then, one by one, the androids began to disappear in flashes of light as they geo-leaped away from the film set.
Adam glanced in between them and Leo. "Good question. You should probably ask them before they all geo-leap away." Leo let out an irritated sigh as my sister yelled again in desperation. "Three seconds!"
The countdown reached its final moments.
The exterior of the film set erupted into a massive explosion. Fire and smoke swallowed the building, sending debris flying as the camera feed shook violently before filling with smoke
...
"NOOO!" Chase yelled. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen. My heart sank as smoke continued to billow across the monitor. I desperately wanted to believe they had escaped, but there was nothing we could see. Giselle calmly folded her arms. "Well, that's a wrap on your family."
I clenched my fists. "Oh, yeah? Well, I can geo-leap too!"
I concentrated, trying to activate my bionics.
Nothing.
I tried again, gritting my teeth as I strained against the restraints.
Still nothing.
