Kagami Taiga was a natural born basketball player, from when he was a small little boy playing on the streetball courts of LA with Himuro up to his adulthood, where he was still playing as passionate as he always has. Kuroko was still a big part of his basketball career.

But what he wasn't a born natural at, was being a father. Kagami can't lie, he actually loves kids. He often smiled looking at all the determined little boys and girls at the courts aspiring to be great players one day, mainly because they reminded him of himself. He was just clueless when it came to children about their needs and the such.

You, on the other hand, was a famous author. From a young age, you loved books and considered them as the only thing you'll ever need. You thought you didn't need friends, and certainly didn't need a boyfriend. In fact, you found no interest in boys, as you thought that they were loud, rude, and obnoxious. So instead of hanging out with real friends, you often went to the library to read books to sweet little kids.

All of that changed when you both met in your first year of college. You were aspiring to be an author and get one of your stories published one day, so you took literature as your form of study. Kagami was there for a basketball scholarship. He was the star player, but he obviously needed help in his studies.

You were assigned to tutor him one day by your professor. She said that in order for Kagami to continue playing, he needed to get his grades up. You were reluctant to do it, but you agreed in the end.

In all honesty, you never understood Kagami. And he never understood you.

'Who wants to stay inside and read books all day?' he thought.

'Who wants to stay outside and play basketball all day?' you thought.

Opposites indeed. But despite the differences between the two of you, you both managed to fall in love.

Fast forward, you both got married a year after college. You got not one, but three of your stories published within a year and Kagami was offered a spot on the national Japan basketball team. Just as things couldn't get any better, you became pregnant. Of course, Kagami was nervous and scared but just as excited and ecstatic to finally be a father.

About five years later, things still stayed the same. You were still an author and Kagami was still playing basketball. Your son was now four years old and thriving. Well, a thriving reader at least. [S/N] was never the extroverted individual and was more like you. And not to mention that you were always home while Kagami was out either practicing, a game, or at a press conference. So [S/N] had a stronger attachment to you. He loved his dad, but he just wasn't as connected to him as he was to you.

---

"Mommy," your son peeked his unmistakeable red hair through the door of your office. You immediately noticed him and turned around.

'Yes?" you asked gently.

"I finished my book," he said and held out the small children's novel.

"Really? I swore I just saw you start reading it this morning," you replied with a small giggle.

"Can I read one of the books in your library?" he asked and pointed to the tall bookcases that leaned against the walls of your office.

"[S/N], you know you can't read those yet,"

"Can I at least look at the pictures?" You were about to reply to his question until the door of your house opened with a slight jingle of keys.

"I'm home!" Kagami yelled, hoping he got yours or [S/N]'s attention. You picked up [S/N] and walked over to the front of the door and greeted Kagami a smile, who had a bit of sweat lathered on him. Kagami smiled when he saw the two of you and placed a short kiss on both of your foreheads.

"Have you made dinner yet?" he asked.

"No, I was too busy revising my work so I can turn it in tomorrow," Kagami was going to reply when you got a call from the editor from the company saying that she needed to meet up with you for a moment and that it was urgent. You decided to leave Kagami and [S/N] and promised that you would be home by 9:30.

After you had left, Kagami decided to cook that night since you didn't make anything. Once dinner was done, Kagami cleaned the dishes and put them away. He went to check up on [S/N] in his room and saw that he was reading a book silently on his bed. Sometimes he wonders if this kid is really his, because he doesn't remember being fond of books as a kid, but more so in basketball. But he then remembered your passion for books at a young age.

He really does take after [F/N]...

Kagami walked in and say next to his son, who looked up at him, removing his eyes from the rather large novel for his age.

"Hey [S/N], whatcha reading there?"

"It's about a boy who loved playing a sport, but he was afraid of being too weak because he didn't have much skills. But when he grew up, he became super good," Kagami quirked an eyebrow at the familiarity of the story.

"What sport was he playing?"

"Basketball," he answered as Kagami's eyes lit up. He took this opportunity to try to convey his love for the sport to his son.

"Speaking of basketball, do you want to try and play out in the backyard?"

"I don't know how to play..."

"That's alright, I can teach you!"

[S/N] smiled a bit. "Okay," Kagami ruffled his hair and the two males stepped into the backyard that had a basketball court.

Kagami could see how reluctant and shy he was the minute [S/N] held the ball, but reassured him. When Kagami started teaching him, [S/N] lost the ball, shot way off, and staggered in his movements.

"Dad, I don't think I can be as good as you,"

"It's alright. All you need is a lot of practice. I started out the same way too. When me and uncle Himuro were kids, he taught me basketball. I remember how easily he knocked the ball away from me, but I didn't let that stop me," he told his son, and smiled proudly when his son nodded and tried harder. The two ended up practicing for two hours, up to nine. Since [S/N]'s stamina was unusually high for a kid, he wasn't all that tired, though he was sweaty.

Kagami couldn't be any more proud when his son was quickly getting used to all the basic skills of basketball, and seeing the same spark of passion in his eyes like he had. The two were in the middle of practicing when they both heard your voice from afar.

"You guys are practicing hard," you commented with a smile, your form leaning against the doorframe. [S/N] quickly ran to you and gave you a hug. You kissed his cheek as a welcome and kissed Kagami when he approached you.

"Mommy! Dad started teaching me basketball and it's actually really fun!" he exclaimed happily. You laughed because you have never seen him this excited for something. You glanced at Kagami, who had a wide grin on his face.

"Really? What type of stuff did he teach you?" you asked as he perked up and started informing you happily about what he practiced with his dad. You now had two avid basketball lovers.

A/N - Hey guys, thank you for being patient with me as I write out these requests! Although I'm still trying to get used to writing different characters for different animes, I'm proud that I was able to write four fics in a day!

Also, please read the next chapter, which is an author's note :3
