"Wait what's this?" I laughed pulling a leaflet from the notch board as we walked past it on the way back to dorm."Oh something stupid." Lily picked it up and chucked it behind her shoulder.
"No seriously what was that?" I asked biting my lower lip. I turned back picked up the screwed up piece of paper. "Parents weekend?" I exclaimed as we walked into dorm.
"I told you it was something stupid." Lily shrugged flopping onto the sofa.
"Is this new?" I asked realising I'd only been here just over a year now.
"No, we had it last year it was just before you joined though. Hey you were lucky." Lily pointed out smiling up at me as if she envied me.
"Did your parents come?"
"Well I try to stop them but they're weird, when I'm home they hate me, when I'm here they ignore my existence but when it means parading around in front of other people they're all for it." Lily smiled sarcastically up at me.
"Does er Matt's parents come?" I asked.
"Still haven't spoken to him huh?" Lily frowned at me.
"Nope."
"It's been 4 days Jen. Oh but yeah they do come." Lily informed me.
"Oh okay." I quickly smiled at her before placing the paper down on the side and sitting down at my desk away from Lily.
"What's the problem?" She asked me.
"Parents weekend-- it's uh for parent's' I only have one." I breathed turning around and raising my eyebrows sadly.
"Hey there's always Rachel." She tested.
"Yeah I just wish--"
"I know." Lily said not wanting the conversation to get too deep.

"Evening." Dad said as I finally picked up the phone after he has been calling me all afternoon.
"Hey, uh sorry I was busy before." I lied settling on my bed and laying down. I didn't want him to speak, too scared he'd volunteer to come to parents weekend.
"So I phoned to see when you're coming home for Christmas, I know you're going away and needed to confirm it." Dad said surprising me with his chosen subject of conversation.
"I'm going straight from school and getting back Christmas Eve morning. I'll be there to start to festivities for Violet don't worry." I smiled.
"And parents weekend?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you want your parent there?" He asked.
"I'd love my parents to be there but that's impossible." I snapped awkwardly at him.
"Hey Jen I know it's tough but Rachel actually said she wanted to be more involved and this is the best opportunity to do it really!" He bellowed down the phone.
"Dad."
"You say the word and we'll stay at home." Dad laughed.
"Fine, you can come." I said giving in.
"We're bringing Violet." He said quickly.
"That's fine." I laughed.
"Anyway, see you next weekend, have a good time and don't worry too much about this whole parents thing." Dad assured me before we ended then conversation and I collapsed back in the sofa signing.

"Come with me." Lily said pulling at me arm as I was watching tv and trying to relax for a bit without feeling guilty for not studying.
"No." I mumbled.
"Jenna."
"Lily."
"Come with me." She moaned pulling at my arm until I finally gave in.
"Fine, but remember this won't work next time, I'm just a bit tired today." I explained knowing she's try this again at some point in the future.
"Okay okay." She grabbed my hand and I complained at her all the way down the corridor until she pushed me into a room and I didn't realise where I was for a moment.
"Lily no." Matt instantly said as I was pushed into the room.
"Lily, no." I repeated walking back out of the room. Though she stopped me and pushed me back into his dorm.
"Maybe I should leave." Tom said standing up from the sofa.
Matt made no move to stop him or agree with him. "No Tom don't leave, I'm leaving." I sighed rolling my eyes at Matt.
"You two did not risk all you did by getting together to only break up after dating for 3 months." Lily scowled at me and almost spat in my face she was so serious.
"We didn't breakup." I growled and I heard Matt say it also.
"Then what is this? A break?" Lily shouted. "Jen do you remember the last time you took a break when in a relationship? He cheated on you."
"That was a different guy." I shouted back at her.
"Do you know what, I'm over it if you two want to act like children go ahead but I'm done trying, I'm done with being supportive about this relationship, break up, get back together, stay on a 'break', do what you like I don't care anymore I'm done trying." She shouted, mainly at me before storming out.
I sighed before turning to Matt. "You think we're being childish?" I asked him.
"Maybe a little." Matt replied. "Look I'm sorry I invited Richard."
"I'm sorry I shouted at you about it. I could have been a bit nicer. I guess I was stressed." I smiled gently but awkwardly.
"I understand now why you wouldn't want him there but you gotta understand my point of view here. Why would you not want an ex to come?" Matt said slowly.
"Because that ex and I had a kid that's now dead." I didn't raise my voice as I spoke.
"Still... Jen."
"Ok sure, but you gotta understand, there's nothing there. Absolutely nothing. I love you." I smiled locking my hands in his.
"I love you too." Matt smiled before kissing me gently.
"I should probably talk to Lily, she's feeling a bit weird at the moment and I'm sure she didn't mean what she said just now... Well I hope so anyway." I smiled pulling away from the kiss.
"Alright, see you tomorrow." Matt said ask left the room and went back to dorm desperate to find and talk to Lily, and explain our stupid childish acts bud she wasn't there and it was 5 to 11, the eagle would be here any minute.
"Oh lil." I muttered to myself, she must have been jealous or something or sad about something because I've covered for her twice this week already the eagle won't believe me again. She knew that.
