"Matt's just in there with her now." I said to Lily's mum as we stood outside the room for a bit."Thanks Jenna, but shouldn't you be being seen to, you need stitches in that forehead. It's a really bad cut you've got there." Her mum said slowly.
"I'd rather wait here for Lily to go off for her operation first." I mumbled.
"You're the only roommate I like, you know that?" She said to me.
"Really? I had a kid last year you know that right?" I frowned at her.
"Yes."
"I wasn't married." I continued.
"Yes Jenna." She continued. "You're still the most sensible and most caring and the best thing that's ever happened to Lily."
"Aw well, thank you." I said slowly.
"You would of been a terrific mother I'm sorry about your daughter." Lilly's mum muttered and she smiled slightly across at me. After all this time thinking Lily's parents were horrid and mean. Her mum was lovely.
"Thank you I really really appreciate that. Especially coming from you, a well established mother." I sounded sincere and then I turned it into a kind of joke.
"Lily's lucky to have a roommate like you." Her mum laughed and then we watched Matt and Lily chat away through the glass doors on the hospital room. "I wonder what they're talking about?" She looked over at Matt and Lily.
"Oh I can guess." I scoffed looking over at them too.
"Matt." Lily muttered seeing him settle down next to her and instantly hold onto her hand.
"I'm here." He mumbled to her.
"The nurse she said--"
"I know Lily. This operation might the first of many but I'm here alright?" He leant over her and kissed her forehead.
"I might not walk again." Lily said smiling slightly as she was drugged up and not sure about what she was saying. "And you shouldn't have to put up with that, so I understand if you wanna--"
"Don't go there, I meant it when I said I love you. It doesn't matter if you can't walk you're the same person and I love you." Matt mumbled squeezing her hand.
Lily started to cry as she laid her head back tiredly, she was so weak.
"The Doctor took this off of you when you were brought in and Jenna just gave it to me..." Matt said holding out the silver bracelet in his hand. "Here's the reminder that I'll be right out here when you get out of surgery alright?" He mumbled before putting the bracelet on her and then kissing her dark rimmed, pale, blueish lips.
"They love each other." I said to her mum.
"I know, I can see it. I know that look on her face." She said to me as we looked at Lily talking to Matt.

"Mum it's my last day at school will you please come and pick me up? I don't want to walk home again." Lily asked before school all excited that she was starting her new school after the holidays.
"I have to look after your sisters Hun. If I come out if means strapping them all in the car and that takes a very long time for such a short trip to your school." Her mum told her.
"Dad." Lily grumbled.
"I'm in a meeting lil, I'm sorry and then I've got to come home and help your mum with the twins." He complained rushing around.
"But I can still have my friends round tomorrow right?" Lily asked her parent hopefully.
"Is that tomorrow?" Her mum asked. "I have a parent toddler group."
"I'm driving into the city all day tomorrow you know that Lily." Her dad said.
"But you promised me weeks ago that when I finished school that my friends could come round and we could have a party." Lily grumbled.
"That was before the girls were born Lily. They're only little they need lots of attention and seeing to so they're well looked after." Her dad said to her as she just rolled her eyes at anything to do with the twins.
"You won't even let me hold my sisters for longer than 5 minutes." She scoffed.
"That's because they're very small and you're only 13." Her mum complained.
"Whatever." Lily sulked going to the door and slamming it shut as she went off to school even though she meant to get a ride to school and her dad was angry that she had just left like that.

I was sat back in my cubicle now as the nurses were really angry that I had kept wandering off. I just laid there knowing any minute now Lily was going in to one of many surgeries she might have to have today or tomorrow.
"Jen can we call anyone for you Hun?" Victoria said slowly opening the curtain and then closing it again.
"No, dads busy I don't want to disturb him." I mumbled back at her.
"I think you should still tell him what's happened." She said putting gloves on and starting to clean up the gash on my forehead.
"I don't feel like talking. Besides, what use is it? I'm fine." I said closing my eyes.
"How about that Richard eh?" Victoria suggested.
"Nah it'll be too much hassle." I shook my head to which she then frowned at and continued to clean my head up nicely.
"How are you feeling? Lightheaded still or are you all okay?" She asked.
"Fine now." I smiled gently. "It was just before I couldn't handle it." I mumbled.
"If you need to talk about it... I'm here yeah?" She said gently.
"Yeah." I hummed sighing because I didn't need that at the moment.
