"Oh. My. God" Ali said, her face glowing with amusement. I couldn't agree more, when we walked into the gym everything looked stunning. Walking through the door, there's a red carpet on the floor that leads to the dance floor which is covered in glitter and confetti. I looked to my left and I could see a long table filled with every sort of food like fruits and macaroni, to drinks like fruit punch and tequila.
"This is gonna be the best party ever" my best friend said. I saw something flashing to my right and I looked over to a white backdrop and velvet ropes along with some of the seniors holding signs that say boom and pow and posing in front of the camera.
"I have to admit, this is pretty cool" I told her.
"I know, let's go get a drink" she grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the table. I laughed and went along with her before looking around at all the seniors already half drunk and partying like there's no tomorrow.
"Admit it Kat, your glad your best friend forced you to come to the last party at Freefall High" she looked at me, holding a smirk.
"Oh no. We'll see how the rest of the night goes, then maybe I'll admit it". I laughed as she grabbed another drink and shrugged.
"Here comes your boyfriend" I pointed toward him. That's when Ali put the drink back on the table.
"What's wrong? That drink taste funny?" I questioned, my mind wondering through a series of 'what if someone tried to poison us?' or 'what if this isn't even a real tequila?'
"No. If Jason sees that I've had more then two drinks, he'll flip" she tells me, fixing her clothes. "How do I look?"
I give her the thumbs up.
"Hey babe, cmon let's go dance!" He yells to Ali over the music, then grabbing her hand, "Katerina come on, don't be shy" he asks me but I just shake my head no.
"I'm fine right here. I don't dance" I tell them, shaking my head no again and waving them on. "I'm gonna find somewhere for us to sit"
"Okay, we'll be right back. Save us a seat" she hugs me.
"Okay, go on" I let them go, watching them as they struggle to the dance floor though a crowd of people.I grab a drink off the table under the label 'Vodka' and think to myself 'this party isn't so bad after all'. I smell the drink and it gives my nose a sweet fruity smell that makes me swallow and wonder what it takes like. I take a sip and I could feel the alcohol running down my throat giving it a sizzled sensation. Then I look back at the table and I could see the other signs of drinks labeled 'Wine, Tequila and Beer' before deciding I should go find a table or a couple of seats for us.
Heading over to the tables, I notice that most of them are taken on one side of the room that contains most of the seniors. I roll my eyes and walk over to the other side and I spot an empty table near some outsiders who I don't recognize at all. I quietly make my way over to the table with my drink in one hand and a sweaty palm on my other.
I finally make it to a seat when a random guy comes up to me and says "Hey" but I continue to ignore him
"You just gonna ignore me love?" he asks me but I still continue to ignore him. I get up and see if I can find Ali and her boyfriend anywhere but she's nowhere to be found. That's when the guy gets up and stands in front of me. I look at him and from the lights that are flashing and the loud music playing, I can see that his eyes are green with a hint of hazel. His hair is brown with wavy locks and he's holding a crocked smile.
"I don't know you, leave me alone before I get security" I tell him making him put his hands up and back away. I walk away from him, thinking I should go find Ali and maybe convince her to take me home since it's already one-thirty am. As I'm walking away, I turn and notice that the same guy is smirking and watching me as I walk to the door.
I step into the hallway and here nothing but silence. I shut the gym door behind me, thinking maybe Ali and her boyfriend snuck away and started making out or hanging out with some other friends outside of the gymnasium. Walking down the silent hallway, the sound of my footsteps bounce off the wall hitting my ear with an echo. Then that's when I hear someone walking behind me but I don't turn around to see who it is. I keep walking and i hear it again. Now having no other choice but to look back, I do just that seeing no one but an empty walkway. Then someone steps out in front of me as I turn my body back around.
"Hey love, remember me?" that's when I realize, it's the guy from the party.
