Chapter 16

"So tell me more about you Vi, your brother seems really great" I tell her.

"He's not. He's a pain in the ass" she laughs and that makes me laugh.

Were walking down the hall along with the other students because there's a peprally going on in the auditorium on the first floor.

"Or maybe he's just being a good brother sometimes?" I say to her.

"Yeah maybe" she said to me ,we started walking down the stairs with the crowd of students around us, "I love sports but from first impressions, people don't think that"

"Oh, me too!" I said excitement flashing across my face. "I played alot of sports in high school, I wonder what sports they have here?"

We reached the end of the stairs, walking pass the main entrance. Something told me to turn my head and look at the front desk Ruby was at. I could hear Violet still talking but then it was like everything slowed down in that moment.

The same guy that looked up at the window, was now talking to Ruby. She handed him his paper and then they started talking though I couldn't hear what they were saying because the blood had rushed to my ears. I could see the back of him now, the soft brown curls on his head. His navy blue shirt and he wore fitted jeans and sneakers.

He slung his bag back over his shoulder and began to walk the opposing way of the crowd, well he's in my building I thought, and he's obviously on the first or second level. And just as I questioned, he went to the stairs, second level it is then, I thought.

"Oh hey Monica!" I heard Violet say which through me out of my trance.

Monica was coming from the other end of the hall and waved hey to us both as we got to the auditorium door.

"Ali!" I saw her standing next to Jason. She then noticed me and smiled her perfect smile. It feels like it's been forever.

"Hey girl" Ali said, pulling me in for a quick  hug.

I said hey to Jason too and gave him a quick hug, "hey Kat, did you get smaller?" He asked, criticizing my height different from his.

I punched him, "no, you got taller. Oh hey!" I stepped back to Monica and Violet, "These are my new best friends, Monica and Violet" I pointed them out. Everyone said there hi's as we stepped into the auditorium.

"Building A students on the left and Building B students on the right" one of the teachers were yelling.

Great, I can't sit with Ali but I do get to sit with Vi and Monica. Ali pulled me back so it was just me and her talking, "new best friends huh? You getting rid of me already Katty"

"No Ali, I swear. I love you always, okay?" I told her holding her hand until we had to separate and find seats where the three of us, Monica Vi and I, could sit on the left side.

We found three seats next to Violet's brother, who of course had friends of his own. He seems like such a nice guy.

"Woah, Vi your brother is seriously H O T, did I tell you that?" Monica says, and I laugh at her response.

Violet's mouth drops open at Monica, then she looks at me, "this is so not funny Kat, don't encourage this"

I just shrugged.

"Okay students, can I have everyone's attention please?" One of the teachers who look like he could be the head teacher of the college says on the microphone and everyone quieted down.

"Hello all, phreshmans welcome and everyone else I am pleased to have you back with us for another year. As some of you know, my name is Head Master Warren" he says, then he starts off with a long speech about careers and what it was like for him growing up and how proud he is of the school and the success of many students and I bet you can fill in the rest.

"Now let's give a quick round of applause for the eagles cheer and band!" Everyone started cheering and out comes the cheerleaders on stage, the eagles mascot and the band down in front off stage.
  The cheerleaders outfits sparkled with glitter and they all had on the same color as well as the band, royal blue and yellow. It was a cute little cheer and the band did pretty good but as it came, we sat and watched and just like that, it was over.

  "Tomorrow classes will start so be prepared. Thank you all, everyone is dismissed" he announces.

Everyone gets up and starts pulling toward the doors we entered, "Katerina the party is about to happen down at the beach, you still going right?" Vi asks me.

"Well, since classes are tomorrow, I think I'll just stay in and you know, get my things ready and get comfortable with the room and all" I tell her, walking slowly with the crowd.

"Awe, seriously? You really don't wanna go? My brothers going too."

I raised my eyebrows at her and she notices, "your brother? Who's encouraging who now?"

She laughs a little, "alright, hey Monica do you wanna come with me?"

"Oh sure! Of course, I don't usually go to parties but I'll go" she tells Violet and she gives a warm smile.

"Kat!" I hear Ali and turn around to her, "me and Jason are going to get ready for the party, he knows some people that are going"

"Oh yea, have fun Ali. You deserve it" I tell her.

"Your not going with?"

"Nah, I think I'm gonna stick around here and get to know the place. Maybe get my things situated for tomorrows classes"

"Oh alright babe" she has a sad expression on her face so I go in for a tight hug, "you have fun and don't worry, your right next door" I say to her. And it was true, every since we were little she was always next door to me.

"C'mon Ali, see ya later Kat, Monica, Violet" Jason says, he has his hands out waiting for Ali to grab them. He's such a sweet boyfriend, I'm so glad Ali has him to protect her. I wish I had someone to protect me like that. Someone sweet enough to hold my hand or take me to parties.

I waved bye to Ali and she waved back.

We got back up to our room, "here's the key" she handed me a small gold key to the door, "I'm gonna get ready in Monica's room" she grabbed some stuff from her drawer.

"Okay" I forced a smile.

"You sure you don't wanna come?"

"I'm sure Vi, I'll guard the room, you go have fun. I'm sure they'll be plenty of other parties later on" I said.

  "Yeah your right. Goodnight Kat" she smiled and shut the door behind her.

8:00pm

I read the clock on my phone, I had a missed call from my mom and one voicemail. I yawned and went to the bathroom to freshen up a bit.

After a shower, I brushed my teeth and put my pjs on. Then I went back to my phone, 9:30 I read.

I put down my phone on the nightstand by my bed and went to the window and sat. I looked down at the gray jeep in the parking lot. Why is it that everytime I see that guy, it's like my world stops? I don't even know who he is, I thought to myself. And maybe I don't wanna know. If I begin to have a relationship with someone here, I don't know how long it'll last. I'm still.... I swallowed. Scared? Why? Because some young guy tried to attack you at a high school party? I shook the thought away from my head and went to my bed.

I turned off the light, got under the covers and tried to dose off but it was hard now. I had that guy on my mind. The attacker. Daniel Gregg. Why now? I thought. I dont want to have another bad dream like that time mom found me ever again. Think about something else, my mind said. Like the new guy with the gray jeep. I smiled a little, I wonder if he's in any of my classes.
