The Happiness Of Tragedy

Chapter 35

Monica, Violet and I talk as we head over to the other building. It looks exactly the same inside as our building. That's no surprise.

We head for the stairs and when we reach the six hundred floors, we walk down until we come across Ali's dorm. Room Number 640 to be exact.

Monica knocks and I can hear Ali hurry to the door.

"Hey" I say and she grabs our arms and pulls us in as quick as she can.

"What's wrong?" I ask her but that's a stupid question. She's probably nervous as hell to take this test.

"I took the test and I'm just waiting for the results" she snapped and rushes back to the bathroom to sit on the toilet.

Me and the other girls go over to sit on her bed. Her room looks like it may be bigger then ours and her bed is a little bigger then a queen. She has her own room too. No roommate.

"I wouldn't get all worked up if I were you Ali" Monica says.

"Yeah I mean, you don't know for sure yet right?" Violet chimes in.

She has her head in her hands and she looks up at us, "easy for you girls to say" then she swallows.

I really hope this pregnancy test comes out negative. Not just for Ali's sake but for her parents and her boyfriend too. She's been stressing enough already over this, she has school to worry about she doesn't need to involve a....baby.

As we sit and wait, Ali tells us to turn on the tv. We headed downstairs to grab some snacks because I didn't know how long this would take.

"It should be ready now Ali, it's been an hour I think" I tell her and she gets up off the bed and walks slowly to the bathroom but then she stops and turns around.

"Can you girls come with me?" She laughs a little and we all get up and head to the bathroom, silly I know but hey she's my best friend and whatever she goes through, involves me too.

When we get to the bathroom, she tells me to pick it up instead of herself or Monica or Violet.

I stare at it, "umm, okay" I read it and it says....negative.

"What does it say?" She practically yells after I stare at it for five minutes.

"Oh no Ali, it....its positive" my face is serious but on the inside I'm laughing.

Her face turns white and she swallows. Monica and Violet cover both their mouths at the same time.

"I'm kidding, its negative" I smile and laugh a little.

She let's out a huge breath, "Kat! Don't play like that. I was scared shitless, oh my god" she puts her hand over her heart.

"I mean  Ali even though it's not a good time for a child of your own, you would make a great mom and I would be by your side" I put my hands on her shoulders and bring her in for a hug.

She gets rid of the test and we chill in her room for about another hour or two.

"Kat, what's this glow I see?" Ali asks me. Her eyes are low and she's eating a snickers.

"What glow?" I turn away, nervous they might see my cheeks turn red.

"I don't know" she stares, "there's something different about you"

It was my turn to swallow.

"Have you had sex with Levi?" She shouts in a quiet tone.

"No! I-" Great. She figured it out.
