WednesdayAfter leaving lunch, Monica and I head straight to class.
Ali was fuming from the idea that she might fail one of her classes since she felt like the work was getting harder. The whole time we sat out in the courtyard, she yelled about it. Everyone tried there best to comfort her.
I tried telling her it was because we were so close to the end of the semester and that she should maybe do some extra credit like Violet and I was doing, but she said it would be more work on herself so we didn't push it.
"Do you think Ali's going to be okay?" Monica asked over my thoughts.
"Yes, she will. We can try to help her as best we can, she's very smart. She'll be fine" I respond.
I clutch my books tighter and Monica holds the door for me as we make our way into Physics. Alot of students are already in there seats and my eyes scan the room for the teacher. He's sitting at his desk on his computer.
Monica and I head for our seats all the way on he right side of the room in the middle row.
"Alright everyone, I have an announcement to make and then we can get started" Mr. Woods tells the class.
"I don't know if you guys heard, but some of you are new and like every year there's this thing called project graduation"
I look over at Monica and she smiles, sitting up straighter in her seats.
"Its not a graduation thing but they still have it. Its happening on Saturday" he finishes and walks around to his desk.
I look at Monica again and raise an eyebrow, "and don't think I'm letting you guys off the handle" the teacher speaks up again.
He smiles, teasing us "I'm assigning a project this week on oscillations and waves"
Everyone in the class huffs and puffs and the teacher laughs.
The class was easy. Mr. Woods had us work with a partner but I couldn't be with Monica. I didn't mind though, I was partnered with some other girl. She had beautiful caramel skin and her eyes were a bright hazel. She was super nice and her name was Melanie.
Before the class ended, the teacher gave us sometime to start on our projects. I was excited about it being on waves and all so I didn't waste time writing down notes and ideas for how I wanted it to look.
Monica and I gathered our things and headed for the door. We stepped out into the hallway and there were students everywhere as usual. My eyes scanned the area, looking for someone. As if on cue, someone grabbed my hand.
I smiled and looked up into Levi's face
"Hi" I said.
"Hey" he smiled, showing his perfect teeth. He leaned down and gave me a quick kiss.
Levi walked on my left and didn't let go of my hand. I looked to my right and Monica was there with a bright smile on her face.
We walked down the hall and passed the stairs to get to the other classrooms. Calculus was down the next hall and around the corner.
"Lucas!" Someone had yelled from behind us. Some guy.
All three of us stopped and turned around. Everyone that was crowded in the hall parted through the middle and I could see someone running toward us. Levi pulled me and I grabbed Monica's arm so we could move out of the way. Our backs hit the wall.
"Lucas?" Monica said in a low voice. Of course it was Lucas and someone was chasing after him.
Monica stepped out in the middle of the hall.
