Chapter Eighty Nine
*Milly's P.O.V*
"Dude I'm so excited for this! It's the last concert of the Australian leg! Then we get a small break before heading off to America," Calum yells as he runs down the hall to the stage.
He's right though. I'm pretty excited about it too. I mean, once it's finished, I can go home and I don't have to have these boys hurt me anymore. My poor heart can't take it. So I'm going to stand here and pretend like everything is perfectly fine and then, when the boys their last song, I'm leaving. I'm going to go back to the hotel, get my things and leave.
It'll break their hearts but it has to be done because I can't be here anymore.
"You're gonna be watching from the side of the stage right Milly?" Michael asks me.
I ruffle his hair from my spot on his back, "Definitely."
"Good, because it wouldn't be the same without you there," he smiles.
As we reach the side of the stage, the screaming hits my ears, making me flinch slightly. They really are very loud. I've never heard anything louder than a bunch of screaming girls at a bands concert. It's insane. When I hear one of the stage managers yell out 'five minutes', I climb off Michael's back, letting him go get his things.
The One Direction boys, minus Niall, are actually in the audience tonight, in disguise. They thought it would be quite funny that when the show ends and everyone is leaving, that they pull off their disguises and make a dash for it. The girls will go wild and I know that one of the boys are going to get hurt but I won't be around to feel bad for them. Sorry boys.
"Alright Mil, we'll see you when this is all over!" Luke yells over the screams before pulling me into a hug.
"Group hug!" Calum yells before joining in on the hug, Michael and Ashton not far behind.
Wrapped up in their arms, I try my hardest not to let the tears fall, "I love you all so much."
"We love you too Mil," they chorus, before letting go of me and walking over to grab their instruments.
All except for Ashton who stays standing next to me, staring blankly at the stage.
Taking a deep breath, I make myself say the two words that need to be said before I never see him again, "I'm sorry."
His head snaps over to me, a sad look crossing over his face, before he whispers in my ear, "I'm more sorry."
And then, without another word, a single touch or a small smile, he's gone. Ready to run off onto that stage with a huge smile on his lips.
A huge smile that I'm never going to see again.
"Hello Sydney!" Luke yells once they're all onstage, the screams answering him back, "How are you all feeling tonight?"
The fans all scream back at him, louder than before, and I swear my eardrums almost burst. But Calum saves the day when he introduces their first song, the screams stopping when the music starts. They may all be screaming the words back at them, very out of tune might I add, but at least it's a tiny bit quieter than the constant screams.
But at least the screams drown out the voices in my head telling me to end it all.
The concert goes off without a hitch. It's great. The boys sound amazing as usual, the fans continue to scream at the top of their lungs and the people back stage continue to bustle around, making sure everything is perfect. The only plan that doesn't go off without a hitch is mine. Instead of leaving before their last song, I decide to leave a bit before it because, that way, they might not notice that I've left due to being halfway through a song.
As I start to walk out of the backstage area, I see Paul, the One Direction boys bodyguard walking towards me, a stern look on his face, "Do you know where the boys are?
"Oh, they're in the audience. They put on disguises and went out there to watch. They plan on taking their disguises off at the end of the show too."
The look on Paul's face is priceless. For me. If the boys saw it, they would be shaking in their shoes, "Thanks Milly. But, may I ask, where are you off too?"
The funny thing is, I almost lie to Paul as well, but I decide against it right at the last second. Someone should know where I am, "I'm going back home. Tell the boys I'm sorry for me will you?"
Paul's face changes from angry to hesitant before he mumbles a 'sure'. And just like that, I'm off, walking down the halls. I had called a taxi earlier in the day, asking to be picked up from the venue at about nine thirty. Luckily I'm right on time but I'm hoping that the taxi won't be late. I can't imagine what would happen if the taxi was really late and the boys came running out after me.
When I walk out the back door, I spot a yellow taxi sitting outside the gate and I mentally thank whoever it was that made this happen. But I can't stop myself from looking back at the huge building. I am so thankful that Ashton gave me this opportunity. It may not have ended the way I hoped it would, but everything that has happened has changed me. It has helped me to become a better version of me, despite everything going on inside my head.
But most of all, I fell in love.
I fell in love with that curly haired drummer called Ashton Irwin and that is something I never thought I'd be able to do. Especially not after having the only thing I loved ripped away from my fingers. The only downside is that nothing ever came out of my falling in love with him but the experience was there.
Tearing my eyes away from the venue, I climb into the taxi, ready to go home.
Well guys, this is almost the end, only one more chapter and an epilogue to go.
I can't believe it's almost finished. After all this time, this book is going to be coming to a close.
It actually makes me really sad guys. This is like ending Wrong Number all over again. I mean, In Touch may have followed it but it wasn't with me since the start.
I don't know guys. I guess this adventure is finished and it's time to start a new one.
Also, sorry this is up so late guys. I've been out and about today and yeah.
QOTC: What TV series are you watching at the moment?
I'm watching Arrow atm.
