I held my breath as the nurse squeezed the cold jell onto my stomach. I looked over at the empty seat beside me and sighed. "Will the father be here soon?" The nurse asked as she pushed her black glasses up on the bridge of her nose. "No, not today." I said smiling a fake smile. The sound off the baby's heartbeat rang through out my ears. My eyes filled with tears and a smile spread across my lips. "Do you want to know the sex of the baby?" The nurse asked taking off her blue gloves. "Yes please."

The sound of a car door shutting signaled that Shawn was home. I got up from the couch and met him at the door. "Hey baby." He said kissing my lips. He bent down on one knee and placed his hands on my stomach. "Hey baby." He placed his lips on my stomach and stood back up. He walked into the kitchen leaving me there. "How was your day?" I asked as I leaned up aganist the kitchen counter. "It was so busy. Since the tour starts in seven days everyone is rushing to get every thing together." He said as he opened up a bottle of beer. I tapped my fingers along the cool kitchen counter. Shawn looked at me confused, and its like all of a sudden guilt hit him. "I'm so sorry." He said putting his beer bottle down and wrapping his arms around me. As much as I wanted to melt into his arms, I resisted the urge. "Shawn," I stepped out of his grip. His eyes flashed with hurt. "I can't keep doing this." I said shaking my head. Shawn looked at me confused. "It's like I'm the only one putting forth the effort in this relationship. I know that you have to work, but you also have a family." I said. His jaw clenched and he looked away. It was about a minute and no one had said anything. "Oh and by the way it's a boy. You would of known if you would have gone." I said laying the ultrasound picture down beside his beer bottle. I walked up the stairs to the bedroom I shared with Shawn, and laid down. A warm tear rolled down my cheek as I closed my eyes tightly.

My eyes shot open as I grabbed my stomach. I let out a loud groan causing Shawn to wake up. I bit down hard to keep from screaming. Shawn pulled the covers off of me and put his arm under my legs, and his other arm under my back for support. He carried me down the stairs to the car. He sat me down gently in the passagenger seat, and buckled the seat belt. "It's going to be okay." He said softly and kissed my forehead. He closed the door and jogged over to his side of the car. I held my stomach in my hand as I tried to keep in the painful moans. We pulled up to the hospital. The nurse came up to me with a wheel chair. Shawn held my hand as she wheeled me down the hall. My hand slipped rfrom Shawn's as I was took behind double doors. I got a glimpse of Shawn's concerned face as I turned the corner.  I could picture him pacing back and forth as he ran his hands through his hair.

My breath got caught in my throat when I heard the news. I looked at Shawn through the tears in my eyes. His head was buried in his hands as his shoulders moved up and down. Shawn pulled me into a tight hug and held my head at his chest as he ran his fingers through my hair. "I'm so sorry." He said softly. I lifted my head off his chest and placed my hand on his cheek. I used my thumb to wipe away his tears. He wrapped his hand around my wrist and put in his lap. "It's going to be okay. We're going to be okay." Shawn said whispering the last part to the baby. I smiled through the tears and rubbed my stomach.

I squeezed Shawn's hand and closed my eyes tightly. I let go of Shawn's hand when I heard crying. I opened my eyes to see a nurse holding my baby boy. "You did it." Shawn said and then kissed my forehead. My arms reached out to hold the newborn baby.  His brown eyes looked up at me curiously. I smiled down at him and whispered, "Hey baby." His eyelids closed hiding his beautiful eyes. "We're going to be okay." I said softly looking up at Shawn. He kissed me with passion and looked back at our son.
