Breakfast

"Mommy," I heard my 4 year old daughter say. I opened my eyes to see her climbing in between Shawn and I. "Good morning baby." I said placing my hand on her back. She crawled beside me and laid her head on my chest. Shawn turned over facing us. His eyes fluttered open. "Good morning." He said in a raspy voice. "Good morning daddy." Our daughter, Payton wrapped her arms around Shawn's neck and laid her head down on his chest. Shawn rubbed circles on her back as he kissed her head. I smiled as I looked at them. I got out of bed to go make breakfast. "where are you going?" Shawn whispered. "I'm going to go make breakfast." I said softly. I heard soft snores coming from Payton. Shawn and I laughed lightly before I walked downstairs to the kitchen.

I felt strong arms wrap around my waist while I cooked some bacon. I smiled and turned around in his arms. He kissed my lips passionately. His lips were cold and tasted like sweet mint. "Where's Payton?" I asked turning back to the stove. "She's upstairs brushing her teeth." Shawn said as he leaned up against the counter. "I brushed my teeth with her, but she wanted to do it by herself." Shawn said smiling. I laughed as I took the pan that had bacon grease off the stove. I mixed the pancake batter in a bowl and poured some into a pan.

"Is it ready?" I heard Peyton ask. "Almost baby." Shawn said picking her up. I flipped the pancake one last time before I put it on the plate. After a couple of minutes breakfast was ready to eat. I sat Peyton's plate down on the table and cut the pancake into bit size pieces. "Thank you mommy." She said before taking a bite of the pancake. "You're welcome sweetie."

This is short, but sweet.
