Shawn's pov:
"You should leave Shawn." Her words stung and made my chest tighten. "Leave." She said softly, but stern. She looked at me with anger, her eyes once shined when she looked at me, but now they are dark and filled with hatred. I opened the door to the house I once use to share with her, and looked back. Her back was turned to me,  I knew she was trying to stay strong, but I underneath it all she was breaking. A tear rolled down my face as I turned away and closed the door behind me. I heard a loud sob escape her lips from behind the closed door making my heart shatter right in front of me. I got in my car, and replayed what just happened. I punched the steering wheel and let out a loud sob-
I opened my eyes to see the warm sunlight shining through dark curtains that covered the window. I sat up on the bed and looked behind me at the empty space where she used to lay peacefully. I looked down at the hardwood floor and ran my fingers through my hair. I got up from the bed and walked to my closet. I stopped at the mirror. My eyes were red, and puffy from the endless nights of crying, my hair was a mess, and my body was pale due to the lack of sun. I looked broken. In the mirror I could see a photo of me and her. We looked so in love, what happened?

I noticed her sitting by herself at the table. "Wow, she is a loser." I heard one of the girls say from behind me. I decided to try and introduce myself. "Hi, is this seat taken?" I asked pointing one of the chairs. She looked into from her cold food and said, "Um no, no it's not." I slid the chair out and sat down. "I'm Shawn." I said looking at her. "I'm y/n." She said quietly. She looked familiar. "What do you have for 4th period?" I asked. She looked confused, but answered my question, "History, what about you?" "I also have history." I suddenly remembered seeing her sit in the back. I never really paid much attention to her. She was always very quiet, and barely ever answered questions. There was this awkward silence between us that was hard to break. "Do you have a partner for that project?" I asked hoping she would say no. "No, I probably will just do it my-." I cut her off. "I could be your partner." She smiled, "Really?" "Really." I said.
...
"Today is really nice." She said admiring the view. "Yeah, it is." I agreed. "We should get ice cream." We both said at the same time. We laughed. "Race ya." She said before running down the sidewalk. I shook my head and laughed. I tried to catch up with her, but I couldn't. "Dang Mendes, you're slow." She said trying to catch her breath. "Yeah, yeah whatever." I said rolling my eyes. We walked into the ice cream shop, and immediately the sweet smell of ice cream cones, and treats hit me in the face. I looked over at her and saw her beautiful smile. Her face lit up when she saw all the flavors. Her eyes scanned over the flavors from, vanilla to pistachio. "Can I have strawberry cheesecake on a cone?" She asked politely. The woman behind the counter flashed her a fake smile, and put a big scoop of ice cream on the cone. "And for you?" She asked after she handed Y/N her ice cream. "Chocolate brownie." I ordered. She nodded and handed me the ice cream. We walked to a table outside, and sat down. We ate our ice cream in a comfortable science. "Shawn," I looked at her, she had a big smile plastered on her face. "What?" I asked. "You have a little something," she reached across the table and placed her finger on my cheek. "Right here." She said pulling away and looking in my eyes. We were like that for a short second, but it felt like hours. The door opened causing her to jump back in her seat leaving me with the feeling of her soft finger on my cheek.

...
I sat in the floor with my back propped up against the wall. She sat down beside me with her head in my lap looking up at me. "What?" I smiled looking down at her. She shook her head and turned it away from me. I found myself running my fingers through her hair. My finger brushed across her cheek causing her to look back at me. I ran my thumb over her jawline, she smiled a toothless smile. A warm feeling filled my stomach, my heart was beating 10 times faster, and I knew in that moment I wanted her to be more than just my friend.
...
The lights shined on the water making it light up. The cool air hit my face making my cheeks turn a light pink. "Shawn?" I turned around and saw her standing there with a confused look. "What's wrong?" She asked walking over to me. "I'm sorry if I texted you at the wrong time, but I need to tell you this." I turned to look at her. "Shawn you're scaring me, what's wrong?" She asked. I took a deep breath and admitted, "I really like you, ever since last summer when we got ice cream together I knew I needed you in my life wether it was as a friend or more. That afternoon after school when you came to study, and laid your head in my lap I found myself playing with your hair, and you smiled I knew I liked you way more than a friend. So here I am admitting it to you." Her facial expression was hard to read. "I shouldn't of said anything." I turned to walk away, but she grabbed my arm. I turned around and met her eyes for a short second before her lips crashed onto mine.
...
I felt a warm liquid roll down my cheek breaking me out of my thoughts. I looked back at my reflection in the mirror, and wanted to scream. I screwed up, and I can't fix it no matter what I do. I lost her.
