I tied the laces on my 4 year old sons shoes and pushed his hair out of his face. I picked him up and carried him out to the car."wait daddy, we can't forget the flowers." He squirmed in my arms. I looked at the colorful flowers that were bundled up on the counter. I walked over to the counter and picked them up with my left hand. "Can I hold them?" My son asked reaching for the flowers. "Of course." I said handing them over to his small hands. He laid his head on my shoulder as we walked to the car. I put him in his car seat and strapped him in. He still held the flowers and admired them. I closed the door and walked over to the driver side. I put the key in the ignition and turned the radio up. I made sure no one was coming and pulled out of the drive way.
I pulled into the cemetery and found her tombstone. The dead flowers that we brought last time turned a dull brown color.
Y/N Mendes 1998- 2015
A mother, and a friend.
A tear rolled down my cheek as I read the tombstone. I held onto my son's hand as we sat there in silence.

"I'm pregnant!" She yelled in fear. Tears fell down her face as she stared at the 2 lines.
"In only 16, can't-." She sobbed and paced back in forth. I wrapped my arms around her fragile body. "Hey, it's going to be okay. We can do this. I love you okay." I said softly. She looked up at me hugged me tightly. "We can do this." She said.

"Congratulations you're having a boy." The doctor told us as his eyes skimmed over a paper that was clipped to a clipboard. My grip tightened on her hand. I looked at her and smiled. She had tears of joy falling down her cheeks as she smiled widely. She looked at me. "We're having a boy." She said. I engulfed her into a hug before kissing her passionately.

"Come on baby." I encouraged her holding her hand tightly. Her eyebrows knitted together as she pushed. I heard a loud cry, her face softened as she opened her eyes. "You did it baby." I said after the doctor took the baby boy to clean up. She smiled weakly and laid her head on the pillow. Her breathing was unsteady and she couldn't keep her eyes open. "Here's your baby boy." A nurse said walking over to us with a baby wrapped in a blue blanket. She handed him over to Y/N. Her shaking arms reached out for him, but fell before she could hold him. The nurse's face became concerned and handed the baby over to me in a rush. "What's wrong?" I asked in panic. "Doctor, we need you!" She yelled. The same doctor that helped us earlier came in with a worried expression. They said some words I had no clue what it was about and took my son out of my hands. "We need you to wait in the waiting room." The nurse said pushing me out into the hall. My heart was beating out of my chest in fear, as I tried to comprehend what just happened.
I paced back in forth as I thought about what is going on. "Mr. Mendes." My eyes shot up from the old white tile to the doctor. I walked over to him and asked, "What is going on?" "Y/N body can't handle the pressure of having a child at her age, her body is tired and doesn't know how to function properly. I'm sorry, but she had passed away." He put his hand on my shoulder and looked at me with sympathy. My chest tightened and a loud sob escaped my mouth. My whole world came crashing down on me. "Can I see my son?" I tried to speak but sobs made it almost impossible. He nodded and I followed him out of the room.
He looks so much like her, his smile, his eyes, even his hair, he even acts like her.

I bent down and picked up the dead flowers, the silver ring on my finger shined in the sunlight as I put the fresh, colorful flowers down. "Bye mommy." My son said before grabbing my hand and walking back to the car.
This is the saddest thing I've ever wrote.
