Good enough

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I looked out the window. I sniffled and used the sleeve of my jacket to wipe away my tears. I got out of the car and walked into the gas station. I opened the glass door and grabbed a cold Coca Cola. I also grabbed a bag of cheddar and sour cream ruffles. I paid $2.50 and walked out the store. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed his number. He answered on the 2nd ring.

"Hello?" He asked. I took a deep breath and said, "Hey, are you busy?" I asked trying to make my voice sound more like me. "Ugh," he paused and I sighed. I knew he was. "It's okay, I'll just-," he cut me off. "No, no I'm not busy. What's wrong?" He asked concerned. "I just really need somebody to talk to, can you meet me at the park?" I asked as I put the key into the ignition. "Yeah of course, I'll be there in like 5 minutes." I felt relief wash over me. "Okay, see you then." We hung up and I turned up the radio.

As soon as Shawn saw me he became concerned. "Y/n," his voice was soft and gentle. I sniffled and sat down beside him on the wooden bench. "What happened?" He asked turning to look at me. "We broke up." I shrugged and looked away. "Why?" Shawn asked confused. I looked down at my hands and prepared myself. "He cheated, and told me I wasn't good enough for him." Shawn's jaw clenched, as he wrapped his arm around  me. "I'm so sorry this happened. He is blind if he thinks you're not good enough for him, if anything he's not enough for you." Shawn said tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "You think so?" I asked looking up at him. "I know so." Shawn smiled and looked into my eyes. He pulled me into a tight hug. I didn't ever want to let go. My stomach filled with this weird excited feeling. I pulled away and looked down at my hands. "Thank you for coming here Shawn. I really needed this." I said. "You're welcome. You know I'm always here if you need me." Shawn said rubbing circles on my back.
