"Anna, where's Elsa?" Hans asked when he reached the dining room for lunch the following day after the kiss. "She wasn't here for breakfast and now lunch?"
"I'm not sure." Anna said and kept eating her salad for lunch. "Have you tried her bedroom?"
"If she's in there, she doesn't answer." He said and scratched the top of his head.
"Maybe she's still upset about Laila?"
"I don't even want to hear her name." Hans scoffed and took a plate from the table but then set it back down. "I've lost my appetite." Hans muttered and stalked out of the dining room to go to Elsa's bedroom. When he arrived outside of the door he heard crying come from inside of her bedroom. "Elsa?" He asked and leaned against the door with his forehead on the door. "Elsa, I know you're in there now. You need to eat, you haven't eaten all day." He said and heard a small sniffle then her footsteps across the floor. "I could put a sandwich under the door if that's what I have to do." He said and closed his eyes. "Elsa, what's wrong?" He asked and sighed. "Open the door." He demanded and seconds later she opened the door.
Elsa stood there in her gown from yesterday, her makeup running down her cheeks and her eyes were puffy and red from crying all night and morning.
"What do you want?" She asked and wiped her nose with a wadded up tissue. He walked past her and entered the room and shut the door behind him. He picked her up and placed her down on the bed and sat down beside her.
"Why are you or why have you been crying?" He asked softly and laid a hand on her thigh but she squirmed away from his touch. "I can't touch you? You wouldn't answer me this morning either."
"I've been sleeping." She said and sniffled quietly.
"It's almost noon?" He said and glared at her. "What's wrong? Please tell me." He said and his stare softened. "I don't want you to keep things from me. I'll be your husband." He said and ran a hand through his hair while Elsa stayed quiet.
"I saw you kiss Laila." Elsa said and her calm act broke and she burst into tears and heavy sobs that shook her violently.
"What?" He asked, his eyes widened and he grabbed her hands and this time Elsa didn't pull away. "How? Were you eavesdropping?"
"That doesn't even matter! You kissed her." She said and pulled away from him quickly and stood up from the bed.
"You obviously weren't seeing what happened. She kissed me-"
"And you didn't push her away!" She yelled and felt her hands become shaky and hot from her powers. "Get out." She said and looked down at the ice crystals forming at her feet on the hardwood floors. "Get out!" She yelled and looked at him with a scared expression and wide eyes. He quickly stood up from the bed and looked over to her feet then looked up into her intense blue eyes.
"No." He said and began to cross the room to her.
"Hans, please." She whispered and felt everything become so overwhelming. As Hans became closer Elsa dropped down to the floor on her knees with ice forming around her on the ground. The last time he had seen her drop to the floor in defeat was when Anna froze.
"Elsa." He said and dropped down to her and held her in his arms tightly. He felt her sobs become violent and hard on her body and he noticed the frost forming on his pants but decided to ignore it to hold her. "Please, don't cry." He whispered and kissed the top of her head.
"Please leave." She said, her voice sounding so broken that it killed Hans on the inside. "I don't want to hurt you."
"You won't hurt me. You can control it. I know you can, you're strong enough." He whispered. "You love me, you wouldn't hurt me." Once he said that, Elsa pulled away and looked up into his eyes.
"Hans, I love Anna to death. I've heard those exact words before and I hurt her."
"You did that when you couldn't control your powers. It's been years since then and you would never purposefully hurt me. I know you wouldn't." He said and looked down to the cold frost on his pants. "Look," He said and directed her eyes onto his pants and the floor around them. "Sure, you made frost. But you didn't hurt me." He said and smiled at her pathetically. "I love you." He said and laid the pad of his thumb on her cheeks and wiped her tears away. "Don't cry. You're too beautiful to cry." He said and kissed each cheek where her tears were before.
"I'm just so upset that you two kissed. It hurt me so much, I don't think you understand. I just love you and Laila just waltz's in and tries to take you."
"She won't take me from you, and I do know how you feel. I was crushed when I saw you and Alan almost kiss. I want to go downstairs right now and tell everyone that we're engaged."
"Not everyone is here at the castle." She said and sniffled and wiped her nose.
"Then we'll tell everyone at dinner. I want everyone to know that you're my fiancé because this past day I have been a shitty husband and you deserve to be treated like a princess."
"But I'm a queen." She smirked and they both burst into awkward laughter and then Hans hugged her tightly.
"I love you." He said and kissed her quickly. "Why don't you get dressed for the day, wash up and we'll go eat some lunch and spend today together?"
"I would like to." She nodded.
"There's a 'but' coming in that sentence." He said and sighed.
"But," She nodded. "I have so much to plan with the welcoming ball."
"You told Anna that the servants would handle it all?"
"They will but I need to make sure we have everything before they begin to decorate."
"And that will take alllll day?" He asked and raised an eyebrow at her. "If you don't want to spend time with me, you can say it."
"No, no. I do, really. I want to." She rushed and grabbed his hands and held them tightly. "I'll do the decoration and food checks quickly then we can spend the day together. Okay?" She said and smiled at him desperately.
"That'll work." He smiled and kissed her briefly. "Why don't you get ready for the day, okay?"
"Okay." She nodded and they got up off of the floor. Elsa looked down at the frost that was beginning to disappear on the wooden floor. "My powers are a curse."
"No, they're a part of you and you are amazing." He said and seemed to get into an idea. "Think about this! It's like men, when we get angry we punch things and take our anger out. When you are upset or angry, you freeze things." He said and watched as she smiled a little. "That's a horrible idea, I know." He said and shook his head.
"No, it helps." She smiled and kissed his cheek lightly. "Thank you."
